Take a first peek at Ed Sheeran on ‘The Simpsons’

TwitterFacebook

First Game of Thrones, now The Simpsons.

Ed Sheeran is making television cameos with a Stan Lee-like finesse of late. The singer’s next appearance will be amongst America’s favourite Springfield family, as part of their 29th season.

Sheeran will appear in a musical-themed episode titled “Haw-Haw Land” — a dig at La La Land. He’ll play Brandon, a British lad who plays his way into Lisa’s sights with a penchant for piano — causing a love triangle with a certain Nelson Muntz.

We’ve caught a first glimpse of Sheeran as a Simpsons character thanks to a new Fox ad. The episode will air on Fox in the U.S. on Sunday, Jan. 7. Read more…

Ed Sheeran, king of angsty love songs, absolutely crushes cover of Eric Clapton’s ‘Layla’

TwitterFacebook

There’s no song on earth that better captures the agony of unrequited love than Eric Clapton’s “Layla”.

And, Ed Sheeran—king of angsty songs about love—is the only person on earth equipped to cover it.

The 1971 song was written about Clapton’s then-unrequited love for his friend’s wife, Pattie Boyd. Oh, and his friend just so happened to be George Harrison, lead guitarist of The Beatles. TL;DR Clapton later married Boyd.

Revellers ringing in the New Year in the UK were treated to a performance of Ed singing his heart out to “Layla” on Jools Holland’s Annual Hootenanny. And, he absolutely nailed this rendition.  Read more…

Justin Beiber practicing his dance moves on Instagram is the most precious thing on the internet today

TwitterFacebook

There is nothing more pure in this world than the pairing of a vulnerable Justin Bieber and an Ed Sheeran song.

For some reason, this combination came to life on Wednesday when Bieber took the time to bless Instagram timelines with two videos of him practicing some dance moves to the tune of “Perfect,” off of Sheeran’s critically-acclaimed album, ÷.

“I’m gonna get this dancing thing down,” Bieber posted on Instagram.  And wow, did he really get it down.

Look at that roll

Ahead of his gigs in New Zealand in March, Ed Sheeran jokingly asked the prime minister if she could grant him citizenship. He got an unexpected reply.

Jacinda Ardern replied in video format to Ed Sheeran’s “informal” request via her official Wellington Chamber Twitter account

The first two questions are references to New Zealand culture. “Pineapple Lumps” are a kind of popular chocolate-covered pineapple-flavoured sweet, and “jandals” are the Kiwi term for flip-flops. Read more…

Ed Sheeran ‘raps’ on Taylor Swift’s ‘reputation’ and Twitter is having none of it

TwitterFacebook

Taylor Swift’s reputation has finally landed and Twitter doesn’t even know where to start.

How about Ed Sheeran havin’ a wee rap?

Swift joined old mate and “rapper” Sheeran and actual professional rapper Future for the second track of the highly anticipated album, dubbed “End Game.”

Twitter was having none of it.

Ed Sheeran is somehow worse at rapping than Taylor Swift is. This EndGame song has a great chorus and Future rap, though. Basically everything except the intro and the Sheeran rap are A+
