Woman orders ‘Summa Cum Laude’ cake, gets the censored version instead

TwitterFacebook

Cara Koscinski just wanted a nice dessert for her son’s graduation party. What she received was a cake that she says prompted “total embarrassment” and multiple conversations about the alternative meaning of the Latin word “cum.”

In a Facebook post shared Sunday, Koscinski of South Carolina shared photos of a cake she’d ordered from her local Publix supermarket. Though the cake was meant to read, “Congrats Jacob! Summa Cum Laude class of 2018,” she was surprised to see the word “Cum” — Latin for “with”; slang for… you know — replaced with dashes.

Enormous bottle of rosé meets tragic fate at the club

TwitterFacebook

I’ve got a gift for all you schadenfreude junkies out there: a man fumbling with, then dropping, an extremely expensive bottle of alcohol.

Originally posted on a Facebook page called Ibiza Club News (party on!), several outlets have referred to the bottle as Champagne worth $42,000. That, unfortunately, is probably not true — the general consensus among commenters seems to be that it’s a Jeroboam (3-liter bottle) of Veuve Cliquot rosé. Even after club markups, it would likely sell for way less than $42,000.

No matter what, though, this video is still deeply disturbing. How bad for this guy do you feel? Do you feel sincerely bad, or do you just feel secondhand embarrassment? Is your sympathy at all tempered by the fact that such an enormous bottle of rosé exists?  Read more…

TwitterFacebook

Two Japanese teenagers just unintentionally gave us the perfect viral video that epitomizes life itself.

After not having ice skated in four years, Madoka Takayama’s first moment back on an ice rink was filmed by her friend Kyoka Tanaka. And well, you’ve just got to see for yourself what happens next. It’s 37 seconds of pure chaos and unadulterated hilarity.

According to their interview with Buzzfeed, thankfully no one was hurt in the video. Since being posted last week, it’s been seen over 10 million times, accumulating over 310,000 likes on Twitter so far and eliciting the same sort of relatable response from so many folks. Basically, it’s the perfect visual metaphor for life, finals, 2018 and so much more. Read more…
