Nikolaj Coster-Waldau shares his favorite Jaime moments from ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7

The end is nigh for Game of Thrones, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, a.k.a. Jaime Lannister, reminisced about some of his favorite moments from the series, specifically a couple scenes from Season 7.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Coster-Waldau said that two Season 7 scenes in particular stood out to him — both in his own enjoyment and how they showed Jaime’s character development.

The episode “The Queen’s Justice” features a scene between Jaime and Olenna Tyrell (played by Dame Diana Rigg) in which Jaime has been tasked with executing Olenna by his sister Cersei (Lena Headey). Instead of a death-by-sword scenario, Jaime offers Olenna a bottle of poison for a quick, painless death, which she takes and then reveals she was the one who poisoned his son Joffrey right before she died. Natalie Dormer talks about watching Lady Olenna die on ‘Game of Thrones’: ‘I was a bit pissed off!’

[This post contains spoilers for Season 6 and 7 of Game of Thrones]

After their characters’ inevitable demise, former Game of Thrones stars get to watch what happens to the loved ones left behind in Westeros — and most of the time, it isn’t very pretty.

In the case of Natalie Dormer, House Tyrell didn’t fair well after Margaery’s own untimely death in Season 6. And the magnetic actress couldn’t help but feel some kind of way about it, even a year after she parting ways with the character.

“I was a bit pissed off!” Dormer told Mashable when asked about the bloody fate of her fictional family in the newest season, during an interview promoting her upcoming Amazon series Picnic at the Hanging RockRead more…

Gendry confirms he’ll be at ‘Game of Thrones’ climax and that’s huge

All that rowing seems to have paid off for Gendry — and we don’t just mean because of his beefy upper body muscles.

The actor behind the blacksmith-turned-magic-king-blooded-bastard Joe Dempsie confirmed in an interview with Digital Spy that he’ll have a bigger role to play in the final season of Game of Thrones. Most tantalizingly, he said Gendry will be there at the final climax (though that doesn’t mean he’ll survive it).

That could mean a lot of different and hugely important things for the final plot of Game of Thrones, Season 8, according to many theorists. Read more…

‘Game of Thrones’ comes to theaters to distract you from the long wait for Season 8

TwitterFacebook

We still don’t know when the final season of Game of Thrones will air, which means we have plenty of time to revisit all the big twists of Season 7 while we wait.

HBO plans to distract us from our clock-watching with eight fan screenings taking place in three cities (New York, Chicago and Los Angeles) this winter, with the most action-packed episode of Season 7 getting the big screen treatment.

In episode 4, “The Spoils of War,” Daenerys brings her dragons and Dothraki hordes to Westeros for the first time in a stunning attack against Jaime Lannister’s forces, and you know you want to see Drogon and Dany laying waste to the Lannister army on the biggest screen possible.  Read more…

The 7 accents of ‘Game of Thrones’ explained for non-Brits

TwitterFacebook

The visuals of Game of Thrones may be fading from your memory now that Season 7 is in the rear-view mirror (also now that Season 8 isn’t likely to hit until early 2019). But we’re willing to bet the show’s sounds will stick in your brain for a lot longer.

We’re not talking about the theme music or the sound effects of dragon fire or cracking ice — it’s all about the accents, darling.

Let’s be real: almost everyone in the world outside the U.K. is enamored with the accents of Game of Thrones. Yet few know what those accents are even called, let alone their geographic origins. Certainly, nobody has revealed the fact that the show’s most predominant accent, Yorkshire, is now being spoken entirely by non-native speakers; even Brits don’t realize that.  Read more…
