As a part of the ‘Hero In Us All‘ project, several kids from the Looks Like Me talent agency were transformed into T’Challa, Nakia, W’Kabi, Killmonger, Shuri, and Ramonda.

The initiative helped kids feel proud that they could finally embody superheroes that looked like them.

Harry Potter alum gets real (and shirtless) for new comedy

TwitterFacebook

Matthew Lewis has been working with his heroes for decades. The Harry Potter actor who played Neville (and later, hot!Neville) grew up in front of the camera and spent 10 years growing up at wizarding school for the world to see.

On Jan. 29, his new British comedy Girlfriends debuts on Acorn TV, uniting him once again on-screen with thespian royalty – including some Potter alumni.

Lewis met writer Kate Mellor when he was five years old and this is the first time since then that they’ve worked together. Mellor explained the mission of the show – about three aging gal pals – and why she wanted to make it. The 7 accents of ‘Game of Thrones’ explained for non-Brits

TwitterFacebook

The visuals of Game of Thrones may be fading from your memory now that Season 7 is in the rear-view mirror (also now that Season 8 isn’t likely to hit until early 2019). But we’re willing to bet the show’s sounds will stick in your brain for a lot longer.

We’re not talking about the theme music or the sound effects of dragon fire or cracking ice — it’s all about the accents, darling.

Let’s be real: almost everyone in the world outside the U.K. is enamored with the accents of Game of Thrones. Yet few know what those accents are even called, let alone their geographic origins. Certainly, nobody has revealed the fact that the show’s most predominant accent, Yorkshire, is now being spoken entirely by non-native speakers; even Brits don’t realize that.  Read more…

Could the mince pie flat white be the British PSL? I bloody hope not

TwitterFacebook

I had hoped this day would never come—the day when the sacrality and integrity of Britain’s beloved mince pies would be compromised.

But that fateful day has come. The mince pie flat white has descended upon our hot drinks menus; turning this bastion of tradition into little more than a gimmick.

Could this abomination of a beverage become the British equivalent to the all-American pumpkin spice latte?

Pret A Manger is behind the “Festive Flat White,” a beverage it claims to “capture” the “special flavour” of the mince pie. Much like the PSL, the FFW is made using Pret’s “very own Mince Pie syrup.” Read more…
