Battle lines are drawn in intense ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8 trailer

TwitterFacebook

The end is nigh, Game of Thrones fans, and the full Season 8 trailer we’ve been waiting desperately for makes that clear.

In the final season, our heroes gear up for the battle between the living and the dead – and many will likely join the latter.

“Our enemy doesn’t tire, doesn’t stop, doesn’t feel,” says Jon Snow. He might mean the Night King, the Army of the Dead, the White Walkers, the Wights – or he might mean Cersei Lannister, who we see moments later, sipping wine upon the Iron Throne as if nothing has changed since Season 1. But as we all know, everything has changed. Read more…

The ‘Game of Thrones’ actors sure sound like they were in hell shooting Season 8’s big battle

TwitterFacebook

We can always count on Game of Thrones to push the boundaries of television, but a Season 8 battle sequence sounds like it may have pushed the show’s cast and crew to their limits and beyond.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Thrones team broke down their literal breakdown from the three-month shoot that will become the battle of Winterfell – the show’s most ambitious yet, known internally as “The Long Night.”

“Nothing can prepare you for how physically draining it is,” said Maisie Williams, who plays a highly-trained fighter but will make her battlefield debut this season. “It’s night after night, and again and again, and it just doesn’t stop. You can’t get sick, and you have to look out for yourself because there’s so much to do that nobody else can do…there are moments you’re just broken as a human and just want to cry.” Read more…

George R.R. Martin passed on a ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8 cameo to write ‘The Winds of Winter’

TwitterFacebook

George R.R. Martin is taking his responsibility to complete The Winds of Winter VERY seriously. The Song of Ice and Fire author told Entertainment Weekly that he turned down a Game of Thrones Season 8 cameo in order to focus on writing his long-awaited novel.

“David and Dan invited me to a cameo in one of the final episodes, which I was tempted to do,” Martin told EW. “But I didn’t think just for the sake of a cameo I could take the time to return to Belfast.”

Fans have been waiting on The Winds of Winter since A Dance With Dragons‘ 2011 publication. Since then, Thrones hit the airwaves, became a smash hit, won a boat load of Emmys, and released eight seasons (we’re counting the last one too because…yeah it’s not gonna happen). The show even took a year off, which only heightened anticipation for Season 8 instead of yielding any new material from the author. Read more…

‘Game of Thrones’ showrunners explain what really happened to Ser Pounce

TwitterFacebook

We all knew Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss were monsters. But hey, it turns out that they’re actually heartless monsters.

Remember Ser Pounce? The cute, little “proper fellow” of a Game of Thrones kitty that popped up in Season 4 to kill the mood as Margaery Tyrell tried to bond with Tommen Lanni— ahem, Baratheon?

Yeah, well, the cat’s dead.

Cersei apparently killed him in a horrible moment that was apparently too much for even HBO. Benioff confirmed as much in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly (though we have our doubts about how serious he was). Read more…

New ‘Game of Thrones’ pics tease Varys’ return and more surprises

TwitterFacebook

We’re just months from Game of Thrones’ final season, and HBO has released the first stills of Season 8 to get this hype train moving.

Though mostly character shots, it’s thrilling to see our favorite characters again – alive, for the time being, and moving around Westeros with the speed and urgency established in Season 7. Most surprising is the return of Varys (Conleth Hill) to the North…or does that snow mean winter is spreading south with the White Walkers?

For all the new photos, read on.

A little bird told Varys that the North was *the* place to be.
