Apple devices again saw the most activations during the holidays

Apple devices accounted for 44 percent of smartphone and tablet activations over the holidays, with nearly a third of those coming from new devices including the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X, according to new data from Flurry Analytics out this morning. However, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 6 actually took the top two spots in terms of Apple activations, at 15.1 percent and 14.9 percent… Read More

Here’s the lucky Redditor who got Secret Santa gifts from Bill Gates this year

TwitterFacebook

Bill Gates participates in Reddit’s Secret Santa event every year … and every year he outdoes himself.

This year’s lucky Redditor was user VietteLLC, who posted the delightful gifts Gates sent her to RedditGifts on Wednesday.

Viette, who hopes to operate her own no-kill cat shelter one day, received — among other things — donations to three of her favorite cat shelters, several Dr. Who items, a Dave Matthews band shirt, a personalized cross-stitch, and an artisanal Austrian snowglobe. As usual, it’s clear that Gates did his research about his recipient’s passions and thoughtfully selected each item with her in mind. Read more…

Rudolph is the only good reindeer

TwitterFacebook

You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen …

The other reindeer are terrible, exploitative bullies.

The most obvious evidence that the other reindeer are bad lies in the very lyrics of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” In Rudolph’s early days — his childhood, his most formative years! — he was met with nothing but disdain from his peers, who “laughed” at him, “called him names,” and refused to include him in activities.
