HQ Trivia has an Australian version now, so no more random baseball questions

TwitterFacebook

Aussies will know all too well the pain of being eliminated from HQ Trivia thanks to an extremely U.S.-centric question about baseball or something.

Fear no more: The popular quiz app is testing an Australian version of its show, set to launch on Wednesday from 9 p.m. AEST.

The trivia game will feature an Australian host in the form of Lyndsey Rodrigues, will be produced by Australians and of course, will feature questions tailored to Australians.

HQ Trivia gets rid of the $20 minimum to collect your winnings

HQ Trivia, the No. 1 trivia app in the Apple App Store, has removed the minimum $20 balance to cash out. The company made the announcement earlier today on Twitter.
Because the prize money is divvied out among sometimes hundreds of winners, people don’t often walk away with much money from a single game. Up until now, that has meant people were left with less than $20 in their total… Read More

HQ Trivia finally makes its UK debut

TwitterFacebook

This is anything but trivial: the popular app-based game show HQ Trivia has made it to the UK.

Now, Brits can compete for $11 winnings with regular games geared toward UK audiences. One of the game’s hosts Sharon Carpenter, who is from England, will be the popular online show’s host for across the pond.

The first British game kicked off Sunday. It seems like British players were into the game after months of playing the “American” version and waking up at odd hours to compete.

Big up @sharoncarpenter on #HQTrivia UK & Ireland: zero bamboozling American sports questions and more questions about biscuits!👌

HQ Trivia is coming soon to Android

HQ Trivia is letting Android users pre-register for the live-streamed trivia game built by the makers of Vine, Rus Yusupov and Colin Kroll. Pre-registering means you’ll get notified the moment HQ Trivia is available for download. The rapid rise and even faster fall of an HQ trivia champion

TwitterFacebook

HQ trivia, the live game-show app that launched in July, is ridiculously hard to win, but contestant Allan Gibbons repeatedly finds a way.

Better known by his username “AllanG,” Gibbons is an HQ trivia celebrity, born from his knack for dominating the game show’s daily competitions. The 28-year-old radio DJ from Owen Sound, Canada has earned more than $870 from the nine games he’s won and has sat at the top of the all-time leaderboard for about two months.

Sure, maybe his winnings sound like chump change in comparison to the game’s jackpots that range from $500 to $10,000, but it’s been enough to earn him a position atop the leaderboard, and therefore, the envious eyes of the hundreds of thousands contestants who have spent time with the iPhone app over the last six months.  Read more…
