J.K. Rowling’s response to this tweet about Quidditch gets very brutal, very fast

TwitterFacebook

This isn’t the first time J.K. Rowling has fielded a tweet about Quidditch, and it almost certainly won’t be the last.

Anyone who does think about challenging the Harry Potter author’s fictional sport, though, may want to think twice. Because she is definitely 100% done it.

On Tuesday evening, someone tagged her in a tweet reading, “the scoring system of quidditch makes zero sense”.

Her response was… pretty blunt.

It makes total sense. There’s glamour in chasing an elusive lucky break, but teamwork and persistence can still win the day. Everyone’s vulnerable to blows of fate and obstructive people, and success means rising above them. Quidditch is the human condition. You’re welcomepic.twitter.com/0VYCgo13xh

J.K. Rowling confirms a Hermione theory that we suspected all along

TwitterFacebook

If you decide to give your character a name that’s any longer than two syllables, you had better believe that people are going to mispronounce it.

The Harry Potter books are no exception. People managed with Harry and Ron okay, but the second it came to Voldemort and Hermione, the problems started.

Long story short, by book number four, J.K. Rowling decided to do something about it.

Theory: @jk_rowling included that passage on how to pronounce Hermione’s name in Goblet of Fire just to school all of us who were saying HER-MY-OWN like Viktor Krum.

J.K. Rowling reveals which 5 items you’d need to summon her

TwitterFacebook

There are thousands of people in the world who would love to meet J.K. Rowling, but who will probably never get the chance.

Well, great news — now you can summon her! And you’ll only need five relatively easy-to-access items to do it.

It all started on Thursday morning, when writer Hannah Whitten chipped in to a meme that’s been floating round Twitter lately.

What 5 items would someone put in a salt circle to summon you

Mine are chocolate covered cashews, indie perfume samples, a historical romance book, a fall-themed candle, and a cardigan

J.K. Rowling’s latest Trump burn is one of her most brutal so far

TwitterFacebook

When it comes to shutting down the President on Twitter, J.K. Rowling is something of a wizard.

She’s done it countless times over the past few years, and it doesn’t look like she’s planning to stop anytime soon.

Her latest barb came in the form of a parody of a tweet Trump posted on Sunday about his favourite target: the “Fake News” media.

Here’s how Rowling responded later that afternoon:

I do’nt care what Kids at School call me because they are all Disgusting Fake Losers and my Real Friends go to a diffrent Scool you haven’t heard of and they think Im the Coolest and Smartest and we go to parties and I don’t have to tell you there Names for this to be Truepic.twitter.com/vTXm13DShu

J.K. Rowling’s brutal tweet just summed up the absolute state of British politics

TwitterFacebook

Another day, another dose of Brexit-themed mayhem.

Brexit has been a source of intense confusion and uncertainty pretty much since the vote got passed back in 2016, but this week has been manic even by normal standards.

It started on Sunday night, when Brexit Secretary David Davis — ie. the man specifically appointed to ensure a smooth Brexit — decided to Brexit himself out of the actual government.

J.K. Rowling just coined a Harry Potter version of ‘splaining’ and it’s A+

TwitterFacebook

Is there a word for the scenario where someone tries to explain the meaning of your own book to you?

Well, there is now. J.K. Rowling’s just invented it.

It started on Tuesday night, when someone on Twitter attempted to compare Trump to Snape. Rowling wasn’t having any of it, though.

Yeah, nopic.twitter.com/pQCqTo66YU

— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) July 3, 2018

Five minutes later, a new word was born.

Don’t you just love it when people tell you what your books mean?

J.K. Rowling sends a truly spell-binding gift to a 12-year-old ‘Harry Potter’ fan

TwitterFacebook

J.K. Rowling has close to 15 million Twitter followers, and gets tagged in tweets pretty much every single minute.

But that doesn’t mean she ignores all of them.

Back in April Sabbah Haji Baji, the director of Haji Public School in Jammu and Kashmir, northern India, tweeted at Rowling with a request.

Dear @jk_rowling. Kulsum, 12, a first generation English learner from the Himalayas would like to meet you someday. So come visit us at #HajiPublicSchool https://t.co/F9tvShYJsm

J.K. Rowling sends super sweet reply to single parent who thanked her for ‘Harry Potter’

TwitterFacebook

The days may be a long way behind her now, but J.K. Rowling knows what it’s like to be poor.

She’s spoken about her former situation before in interviews.

“I was as poor as it’s possible to be in this country,” she told the Daily Mail back in 2013. “I was a single parent.”

It’s perhaps not too surprising, then, that she clearly has a large amount of empathy for people going through something similar.

On Thursday, Matt Burke from Tallahassee, Florida, sent the following tweet to the Harry Potter author.

@jk_rowling I’m a single parent, broke as can be, and reading the Harry Potter series together has become one of the biggest sources of bonding for us
Doubt you’ll come across this or read this piece, but I just wanted to say thanks for the assist. 🙏🏻https://t.co/hkX0q5HSCX

The Royal Wedding was another perfect opportunity to troll Trump’s inauguration

TwitterFacebook

The Royal Wedding day was all about Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Donald Trump, of course.

As massive crowds showed up to celebrate the couple’s big day, many couldn’t help but notice that more people seemed to crowding the streets of the post-wedding carriage procession through Windsor than were present at Donald Trump’s 2017 Inauguration.

Trump’s inaugural crowd size has been a running joke on the internet ever since former Press Secretary Sean Spicer dubbed Trump’s turnout “The largest audience to ever witness an inauguration — period — both in person and around the globe.” Read more…

J.K. Rowling takes aim at Donald Trump’s massive signature on Twitter

TwitterFacebook

It’s been a little while since J.K. Rowling took a shot at the President on Twitter.

Maybe she felt as though she’d temporarily exhausted her supply of Trump-sults, or maybe she was just focussing on her latest book.

Either way, the hiatus appears to be over.

This time it all started with a tweet shared on Wednesday that drew attention to Trump’s undeniably huge signature.

Why? Why is his signature so big? Why, god, why? pic.twitter.com/uCXcD9fpOl

J.K. Rowling has spoken, owls are better than Brexit

TwitterFacebook

It’s very often that political discussions are simple, especially when it comes to Brexit. But every now and then, you get a real no-brainer.

Journalist Christopher Hope tweeted on Thursday, putting a Brexit spin on the Royal Mail’s new commemorative owl stamps.

Why do owls get the right to a commemorative stamp but Brexit doesn’t? pic.twitter.com/JAWEiyEGI8

— Christopher Hope (@christopherhope) April 26, 2018

— Christopher Hope (@christopherhope) April 26, 2018
