Tesla’s customer referral program is back weeks after it was killed off

Tesla killed off its customer referral program way back on Feb. 1, 2019 because the popular program was getting too costly to maintain. But now, less than two months later, Tesla is bringing it back with new incentives aimed at rewarding its customers, and bringing in new ones. Tesla’s customer referral program had offered a […]

Why the Tesla Model 3 isn’t branded as a Model 3

TwitterFacebook

Look at the back of your car or the next car passing by. Unless it’s an ultraluxury Lamborghini or something similar, you likely just saw which car company made the car (maybe a Honda) as well as which model it is (probably a Civic).

Now look at the backside of a Tesla Model 3, the electric car company’s newest sedan.

It’s almost entirely bare, save for the Tesla logo above the license plate. (The dual motor version is badged and says “Dual Motor,” so there are exceptions.) Its predecessors, Models X and S, out in 2015 and 2012, respectively, didn’t get this same treatment — their names were prominently displayed on the backs of the car. But when the new Model 3s first started appearing out of factories and on roads in 2017 the only clue a car was the Model 3 was a Model 3 license plate frame from the dealership. Now that the cars are more abundant, the frames are coming off, and there’s little to indicate which car it is. Read more…

Teslas, other EVs struggle in the polar vortex

TwitterFacebook

Electric vehicle owners are discovering the harsh reality of driving a battery-powered vehicle in below-freezing temperatures like those sweeping across the Midwest.

Most drivers know in theory that cold weather adversely affects the car’s and its battery’s abilities, but it’s another thing to see your range plummet on the dashboard next to the frigid outside and interior temperature. In these type of conditions the vehicles have a hard time warming up. Even charging is slowed down. So on Wednesday, EV drivers were dealing with way less range than they were used to — and some Tesla owners couldn’t even get into their frozen cars. Read more…
