Diddy wants to buy the Panthers and sign Colin Kaepernick

TwitterFacebook

Here’s hoping this isn’t another Twitter prank.

Sean “Diddy” Combs is keen to buy the Carolina Panthers, and he’s already got a show of support from NBA star Steph Curry.

First order of business, however? Sign Colin Kaepernick.

The hip hop mogul tweeted his intention to scoop up the NFL team on Sunday, just after Panthers owner Jerry Richardson, who is facing misconduct allegations, announced he’ll be selling the team at the end of the 2018 season.

I would like to buy the @Panthers. Spread the word. Retweet!

The NFL signs a new Verizon deal that’s great for consumers

TwitterFacebook

NFL rights are the biggest in sports media—and the closest thing we have to weather vane for where our jumbled world of media and tech are headed.

On Monday, news broke that Verizon had agreed to a new five-year deal to stream NFL games to mobile devices (smartphones and tablets). The telecom giant is paying around $2 billion for the rights.

Here’s the big thing: Verizon has no exclusivity. They’ll host the games for anyone and everyone no matter what network they’re on. And this kicks in for the upcoming NFL playoffs.

This is good for NFL fans. Getting online access to football games had become a relatively byzantine adventure. With Verizon hosting the games but not having exclusivity—if you’re an AT&T or T-Mobile wireless customer you previously couldn’t access the games—you’ll be able to watch no matter what service you subscribe to. TwitterFacebook

If you hadn’t heard, snow finally came to the Northeast this weekend.

The wintry pounding continues in frigid Buffalo, New York, with intense lake effect snow bands — and even some lightning — hitting the area.

Such snow bands occur when cold air blows over the relatively warm water of a lake picking up moisture, and dumping it as snow in downwind areas (h/t to Mashable weather wizard Andrew Freedman). Buffalo, unsurprisingly, is one of the most lake effect prone cities in the U.S., due to to its proximity to Lake Erie.

But it’s Sunday, folks, and there’s football to be played. Read more…

The worst questions you’ll hear this Thanksgiving and how to redirect the conversation

TwitterFacebook

Thanksgiving is a time for the whole family to gather around the table and enjoy a delicious feast. But for most families, it’s not always fun and heartwarming, but rather a melting pot for questions you don’t want to answer and opinions from old people you never wanted to hear.

So here are some of the worst questions you’ll hear this Thanksgiving, and some ways that you can try to redirect the conversation to something harmless.

“Explain your job again? It’s just temporary right?”

When this dreaded career question arises, a good diversion would be to yell, “This stuffing is really good, has anyone tried it yet?” If they ask you again, just continue repeating your question until they drop it and find that stuffing is really good. Read more…
