Though the Zolotoy Bridge in Vladivostok, Russia has been closed to pedestrians for three years, a group of people attempted to cross the bridge with the help of a not-so-subtle disguise.

The internet’s best tips for how to be kind on World Kindness Day
When brainstorming ways to make the world a better place, we often think about donating, volunteering, signing petitions, and taking to the streets, which are all necessary actions. Yet we must first remember to be kind to ourselves and to others. It sounds simple, but it’s effective: A smile, a cup of coffee, or a “thank you” can help make someone’s day better. Treating people with compassion every day, alongside political and community action, can lead to real, positive change.
Such advice may feel simple, or even cliché, but we increasingly live in a world where bigotry and cruelty constantly capture our attention — and the news cycle. Kindness is just one of many defenses against malice, and it’s particularly critical to show support and kindness toward marginalized communities under attack by discriminatory rhetoric and policies. Sometimes your mouth is just not in the mood to follow instructions from your brain.
We all know the feeling of having no control over the words coming out of our mouths. And now, that feeling has been encapsulated in the “don’t say it” meme.
The meme, which has spread rapidly over Twitter, is all about those situations where you end up saying the one thing you’re trying your hardest not to.
This is a classic.

My brain:
Don’t say it
Don’t say it
Don’t say it
Don’t say it

Googly eye bandit is wanted in Georgia for defacing monument
Googly eyes are hilarious. Put some googly eyes on literally anything and people are going to have a good time.
Unless it’s the city government of Savannah, Georgia we’re talking about. To them, googly eyes are no laughing matter — at least not googly eyes placed on a historic statue.
The City of Savannah Government Facebook page posted photos on Thursday of a monument of American Revolutionary War figure Nathanael Greene with googly eyes plastered to his face. Accompanying the hilarious photos was a message decrying the act of vandalism and informing the public that this is in fact a crime. Read more…

How to functionally abandon email
Let’s face it: Email is a drag.
Whatever shine unsolicited links and messages once had back in the early days of the internet is long gone. Today, the contents of your inbox are likely closely aligned with that of your cellphone’s voicemail — unwanted and unchecked.
It doesn’t have to be this way. It’s within your power to functionally give up email. It is surprisingly easy, and feels so, so good.
First off, let’s all agree that writing and replying to emails is a pain. Even the companies that provide the service know it’s unbearably tedious. Google has tried to make things less burdensome on the senders’ end with Gmail’s Smart Reply and Smart Compose features, and on the receivers’ end with Nudges, but those are just annoying Band-Aids on the festering wound of obligation. Achieving a good night’s sleep isn’t always easy. Busy schedules, frequent stress, and bad rest environments can be culprits for sleep troubles. And it’s more common than you think.
According to the American Sleep Association, 50 to 70 million U.S. adults have a sleep disorder. If your sleepless nights are taking a toll on your health, it might be time for you to buy a new pillow.
Pillows nowadays come with many not-so-basic features, including hypoallergenic materials, anti-wicking fabrics, and memory foam technologies for head, neck, and shoulder support. With so many options, it can be hard to find the right fit. Before you buy a pillow, there are a few things you might want to consider. Read more…

Sleep can make or break your day. If you wake up feeling energized and refreshed, concentrating and functioning will be a breeze. On the other hand, if you spend most of your nights tossing and turning, the whole day can feel like a challenge. You’ll be fatigued, irritable, and reaching for the nearest caffeine source.
According to the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, sleep deprivation might lead to serious health problems, including diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and obesity. So it’s something to take seriously. If you need to improve your quality of sleep, it might be time for you to buy a new mattress. Read more…
