PETA’s campaign to stop anti-animal language sparked a new meme

TwitterFacebook

PETA’s ridiculed campaign inspired a glorious new meme.

The animal’s rights group was heavily criticized for comparing “anti-animal” idioms to racism, homophobia, and other discriminatory language. Along with their terrible opinion, PETA posted a list of very serious alternatives for “anti-animal language.”

Hilarious examples include “Take a flower by the thorns” instead of “Take the bull by the horns,” as if people could say that with a straight face.

Words matter, and as our understanding of social justice evolves, our language evolves along with it. Here’s how to remove speciesism from your daily conversationspic.twitter.com/o67EbBA7H4

The internet mocks PETA after it suggests we stop using ‘anti-animal’ idioms

PETA wants people to stop using age-old idioms that it believes are rooted in “speciesism” and “anti-animal language.”
So, that means they want you to stop saying “kill two birds with one stone,” and instead say you’re going to “feed two birds …

The internet’s divided on Nabisco’s animal crackers box redesign

TwitterFacebook

The People for Ethical Treatment of Animals just freed five circus animals — well…kind of.

The animals pictured on boxes of Barnum’s Animals Crackers have been released from their cages after PETA pressured Nabisco to redesign the snack’s box art.

According to a report from the Associated Press, PETA sent a letter to Nabisco’s parent company Mondelēz International in 2016 criticizing the box art that it said glorified the use of circus animals.

“Given the egregious cruelty inherent in circuses that use animals and the public’s swelling opposition to the exploitation of animals used for entertainment, we urge Nabisco to update its packaging in order to show animals who are free to roam in their natural habitats,” PETA wrote in the letter, according to the AP. PETA activists storm Crufts dog show pitch-invasion style

TwitterFacebook

Two protestors disrupted the Crufts final on Sunday with a pitch-invasion.

The protest began just as the Best in Show prize was being given to a whippet named Tease. Two activists ran onto the show floor, holding signs that read “Crufts: Canine Eugenics.” They were quickly wrestled to the ground by security.

PETA later released footage on Twitter.

This graphic PETA ad just got banned from London buses

TwitterFacebook

PETA has a pretty blunt message for Londoners this festive season; one involving graphic images of a pet dog being served for Christmas dinner.

But, that message didn’t quite make it to the public because London Buses refused to run the advert due to concerns over the “offensive” nature of the content.

In a blog post, PETA UK said it was “shameful and confusing” that its campaign was rejected by the transport authority “when Londoners are bombarded with ads selling turkey corpses.”

The advert featured a “glazed and roasted dog’s head on a platter” alongside the words: “If You Wouldn’t Eat Your Dog, Why Eat a Turkey? Start a New Tradition. Go Vegan.”  Read more…
