Facebook bans Myanmar military accounts for ‘enabling human rights abuses’

Facebook is cracking down on the military leadership in Myanmar, the Southeast Asian country where the social network has been identified as a factor contributing to ethnic tension and violence. The U.S. company said today that it removed accounts belonging to Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who is commander-in-chief of the armed forces, and the military-owned Myawady […]

‘Tillerson-ed’ is the perfect dating slang for these chaotic end times

TwitterFacebook

It’s 2018 and “ghosting” someone you were in a relationship with? That’s so last year.

Now it’s all about Tillerson-ing people. The term, which is admittedly a real mouthful, was coined Tuesday in the wake of Secretary of State Rex Tillerson learning he was out of a job via Donald Trump’s tweets. The good folks on Twitter have turned his misfortune into a verb that perfectly describes so many of our dating woes.

People have been sharing stories of the time they ended a relationship via social media or uh, non-traditional means.

CONFESSION: I once Tillerson-ed an ex by breaking up with him via changing my relationship status to “Single” on Facebook

The day before Valentine’s day

Not my best moment.

As the nation reels from the firing of Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, we’ve gotten a horrifying little bit of insight into how the firing went down. It appears that Tillerson found out he was out of a job when Trump tweeted out the news.

Trump’s tweet hit the web at 8:44 a.m., just as the first news reports about the firing were published.

Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA, will become our new Secretary of State. He will do a fantastic job! Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service! Gina Haspel will become the new Director of the CIA, and the first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all!

If Trump’s tweets have this much influence over foreign policy, we’re all screwed

Diplomacy isn’t easy … especially if your boss is Donald Trump.

Speaking at Stanford on Wednesday, according to Vanity Fair, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson shared this fun insight into White House foreign policy:

Uhhh … what? So the secretary of state just looks at print-outs of Trump’s incoherent tweets and tries to turn them into something resembling coherent foreign policy?

Well, let’s look at what ol’ Rexy has to deal with.

North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the “Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.” Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!
