A good Saturday Night Live sketch is funny. A great one is so funny that some hapless performer — usually, but not always, the guest host — breaks down and laughs. But a perfect SNL sketch? That’s when everyone loses it.

That’s exactly what happened here in this Space Thanksgiving sketch. The trouble started when someone kicked over a prop at the very beginning, prompting a giggle from Kenan Thompson. Then, everyone openly struggled with the tongue-twisting script, bringing on more laughs. ‘The Office’ cast reunited on ‘SNL’ to beg Steve Carell for a damn reboot

Fact: A whole bunch of people on this planet are begging for a reboot of the beloved NBC comedy, The Office. One of the only holdouts, however, is Steve Carell — Michael Scott himself.

For this reason, four former cast members of The Office — Jenna Fischer, Ellie Kemper, and Ed Helms, and Steve’s wife Nancy — crashed his opening SNL monologue to demand he  reconsider a revival.

Jenna Fischer, who played Pam, even went so far as to reveal the words her character said to Michael in their famous airport goodbye scene to convince him. And OH BOY are they good.

Was the visit from his old pals and high level of support from the audience enough to bring Michael Scott back? We’ll have to wait and see. Things looked promising towards the end, but we know Carell loves to tease us. Read more…

Steve Carell ‘SNL’ promo teases his return as a serious actor

Steve Carell fans may be nervous about the actor’s recent turn in serious dramas, but a promo for his Saturday Night Live hosting gig shows that he still has comedy in his blood.

In a teaser for Saturday’s show, Aidy Bryant and Chris Redd ask Carell if he’s still capable of comedy. He assures them that, as a Serious Actor™, he can prepare for any role.

What follows is a classic actorly montage of Carell reading books, talking to a mirror, practicing, pacing, and pulling out pages of notebook paper in frustration as he prepares. When the time comes to hear about his sketch character, Dr. Farts, he’s finally ready. Read more…

Steve Carell will host Saturday Night Live for the third time on Nov. 17 with musical guest Ella Mai.

Carell is currently promoting Beautiful Boy and leaning into his silver fox phase, while Mai is fresh off her self-titled studio album debut in October. 

Besides Beautiful Boy, Carell will also appear in December’s Vice, about Dick Cheney. He’ll portray Donald Rumsfeld.

Apple’s upcoming TV streaming service has added another television legend to its roster of stars for its inaugural season — and he’s kind of a big deal.

Steve Carell, who has entirely eschewed TV roles since The Office went off the air in 2013, will return to television to team up with Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston for one of the Apple service’s original programs. 

As said in The Hollywood Reporter, the yet-untitled show is about working for a Good Morning America–type morning program and is based off of Brian Stelter’s book Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV.  Read more…

The 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards certainly had their moments, some of which were rare connections between two unlikely people – like Kelly Clarkson and Steve Carell.

It’s been 13 years since Carell starred in The 40-Year-Old Virgin and screamed out Clarkson’s name during the infamous waxing scene. Astoundingly, the two celebs never met before Sunday night.
