In the future, all your air hockey games could be in augmented reality.
Now, thanks to Sony, we have an idea of just how cool that could be. The company was demoing a new augmented reality air hockey concept at SXSW, and it was impressively fun.

At SXSW, Sony’s putting people in digital hamster balls
Ever wonder how much fun it would be to roll around in a hamster ball?
It’s hell.

At SXSW, my colleague Karissa Bell and I got to experience this fun activity at Sony’s Wow Studio activation thanks to the power of cameras, projections, and a Microsoft Kinect sensor (RIP).

What a difference a year makes, especially for up and coming ride-hailing app Fasten.
Last year the tech, media, and music conference South by Southwest was a ride-hailing nightmare, with Uber and Lyft no longer operating in Austin, Texas, over issues with fingerprint background check requirements.
This gave smaller wannabe ride apps the perfect opportunity to show off different platforms and demonstrate what rides could be like in a Uber-less world. Fasten — which started in Boston in 2015 — swooped into the Austin opening.
