We’re getting free tacos thanks to a stolen base at the World Series

TwitterFacebook

Baseball fans and fast-food lovers alike can celebrate for one tasty reason: Free tacos.

In keeping with its long-running World Series tradition, Taco Bell will give away free Doritos Locos Tacos if a base is stolen by either team during a game. Thanks to Boston Red Sox player Mookie Betts — who stole a base during Tuesday’s game versus the Los Angeles Dodgers — the entire U.S. now has access to free tacos.

It happened! A base was stolen in the #WorldSeries and that means all of America gets to steal a free Doritos® Locos Tacos. See terms: https://t.co/0Q1e2acrit #StealATaco pic.twitter.com/1i21Jukplz

Houston Astros’ first-ever World Series win was predicted by a Sports Illustrated cover back in 2014

When the Houston Astros clinched the team’s first-ever World Series championship just a minute or two shy of midnight on the East Coast on Wednesday night, they fulfilled a prophecy that had been laid out by Sports Illustrated — three years ago.

The cover of a June 2014 issue of the magazine featured the headline “Your 2017 World Series Champs” with a photo of Astros outfielder George Springer, who, ya know, just won the 2017 World Series MVP award.

When it’s Halloween and all you wanna do is watch the World Series

TwitterFacebook

Cruel fate put Game 6 of an incredibly exciting World Series on the same night as Halloween.

If you were a sports fan with kids — or lived in a neighborhood full of trick-or-treaters — this was pretty much torture. Fans of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Houston Astros, and just baseball in general were faced with some tough choices.

Some people straight-up pretended they weren’t home.

Front light off. Curtains closed. No time for Trick-or-Treaters. It’s World Series time#Game6
