Normally, presidents seek to burnish their legacy by designating large tracts of land or swaths of the ocean off limits to development, to be preserved for future generations.

But President Trump is not a typical president.

On Monday, he traveled to Salt Lake City to sign proclamations that slash two national monuments — Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante — by more than 80 percent and 45 percent, respectively.

Environmental and Native American rights groups are denouncing the actions, which could eventually allow oil and gas drilling, as well as coal mining, off-road vehicles, and hunting, to occur on former Native American burial sites and other sacred grounds.  Read more…

Barack Obama just wished Joe Biden a happy birthday with an original Obama-Biden meme

TwitterFacebook

It’s former Vice President Joe Biden’s 75th birthday and Barack Obama kicked off the celebration in the only appropriate way: his own twist on the legendary Obama-Biden memes.

Obama celebrated his former colleague and their storied bromance with a sweet nod to Biden, calling him a “brother and the best vice president anybody could have.”

ME: Joe, about halfway through the speech, I’m gonna wish you a happy birth—
BIDEN: IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!
ME: Joe.

Former President Barack Obama was at Chicago’s Richard J. Daley Center on Wednesday to perform his civic responsibility and show up for jury duty. And even though everything about jury duty — from the boring AF intro video to the hours of waiting in uncomfortable folding chairs surrounded by strangers — is often dreaded, TBH, jury duty looked totally lit with Obama there.

Obama was reportedly called to serve in late October at Cook County, where he’s registered to vote. It’s impeccable timing considering he and Michelle recently hosted The Obama Foundation Summit in the good old windy city. Read more…

Barack Obama just explained why he hates taking selfies

TwitterFacebook

Barack Obama is a good sport, so naturally he’s spent years putting up with fans who wanted to take selfies with him. He smiled that gorgeous smile and stared into the many phone screens held up in the air by strangers’ arms … but he doesn’t really like selfies, okay?

As the former POTUS kicked off the first day of The Obama Foundation Summit — a Chicago gathering of inspiring civic leaders like Prince Harry and Lin-Manuel Miranda — USA Today reported that he made a very bold move and straight up banned selfies with him and his wife, Michelle.
