Kanye West’s admiration for Emma Gonzalez may not have landed as he’d hoped.

In the latest instalment of the superstar’s debate-triggering Twitter thoughts, West tweeted his admiration for the high school senior, survivor of the shooting in Parkland, Florida, and now gun control activist on Sunday.

He posted the words “my hero” alongside an image of Gonzalez at CNN’s Town Hall following the Parkland school shooting in February.

No, Emma González did not rip up the U.S. Constitution

Emma González’s arresting speech at the March for Our Lives is one we won’t forget for years to come.

But, as González and millions of people marched to demand legislation to prevent gun violence, fake images of the activist ripping the U.S. Constitution were being circulated by self-professed NRA supporters.

The image was debunked by Don Moynihan—professor of government at University of Wisconsin—who tweeted the doctored image alongside the original image, which showed González tearing up a gun-range target. Remember the name Emma Gonzalez. She surely has many more speeches to come.

In the aftermath of last week’s shooting in Parkland, Florida, the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School senior and survivor stepped up during an anti-gun rally to deliver a fiery speech. Like so many others, Gonzalez is fed up. She’s seen firsthand the desperate need for tighter gun controls, and she understands the political machinations that prevent such changes from happening.

It’s a powerful moment. You should watch for yourself.
