COSMOS is officially returning for another season.

And yes, everyone’s favorite astrophysicist, Neil deGrasse Tyson, will be hosting. The season will air in spring 2019 on FOX and Nat Geo.

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane will serve as executive producer of the show, just as he did when it was revived back in 2015. It featured plenty of mind-blowing science facts, animated history lessons, and Tyson riding around in a weird silver spaceship.

Yup. We got the band back together. Another season of Cosmos is officially real. “COSMOS: Possible Worlds” To air on @FOXTV & @NatGeoChannnel in a year — Spring 2019. Be therepic.twitter.com/BGFJG11Pim

‘9-1-1’ premiere recap: Come for the stars, stay for the headless snakes

TwitterFacebook

“What’s your emergency?” asks the pilot of Fox’s new drama 9-1-1. According to the pilot, there are two types of emergencies: The first are personal emergencies, the ones the define our individual day-to-day, and the second are life-or-death Emergencies with a capital E, the kind that prompt you to dial those three numbers that the show is all about. On 9-1-1, a team of first responders in Los Angeles deal with both types of emergencies – at home and on the job – so there’s never a dull moment.

From Glee‘s Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, 9-1-1 stars Connie Britton as phone operator Abby Clark, the first voice and face we’re met with in the pilot because there is nothing more comforting than the proximate presence of Tami Taylor. Abby has a unique role in the emergency response process in that she’s the first to find out about something but also the first to be cut from the narrative; most emergencies end with her never finding out what happened. What’s next for ‘The Simpsons’ after years of mocking their new owner Disney?

TwitterFacebook

As I’m sure you heard, Disney bought 20th Century Fox for $52 billion today. And I’m sure your first thought was, what does this mean for The Simpsons?

While we don’t know exactly, we will gladly speculate while ruminating on the fact that, for 28 years, the longest-running animated show has dunked on the Big Mouse company over and over again.

While we don’t know about how the show’s new overlords will treat the beloved show, it could very well mean good things for fans.

Another huge thing that Disney bought — besides the right to include X-Men in their Avengers movies — is a hefty share of control over streaming platform Hulu. As we wrote, one of Disney’s main goals for buying the media company would be to compete with Netflix’s and Amazon’s growing influence with its own enormous back catalog. That includes The Simpsons.  Read more…

‘Family Guy’ pokes fun at Kevin Spacey’s bogus apology

TwitterFacebook

Hollywood’s sexual misconduct headlines are officially old enough to have made it on TV, as with Family Guy‘s Dec. 3 episode “Crimes and Meg’s Demeanor.” The episode refers to Kevin Spacey being a gay man in relation to the ending of The Usual Suspects – which is to say, completely unrelated in context.

In the episode, Meg starts drinking to boost her social capital at school during her senior year. She goes to a party and downs several beers, impressing her fellow youths by casually tossing them over her shoulder. Read more…
