Republican congressman roasted for his boring choice of Halloween treats

Always beware of trying to be a little too cute with handing out treats on Halloween because, in a time of political division, there’s a line between political statement and just giving candy to kids. 

South Carolina congressman Mark Sanford is being roasted across the internet on Wednesday after he shared an image of what he says he’ll be handing out to trick-or-treaters.

That’s right — pocket constitutions.

If what you actually want this Halloween is to stuff yourself with handfuls of peanut butter cups, Reese’s has you covered.

The candy brand will deliver the ultimate Halloween treat this year with its innovative (and much appreciated) “candy converter” machine.

According to Delish, Reese’s will set up a machine in New York City on Wednesday that allows people to exchange candy they don’t want for delicious peanut butter-y goodness.

So, how does it work? You put all the Halloween candy you have no interest in — like Tootsie Rolls, Good & Plenty, and Dots (sorry!) — into the converter and then voila! Out come Reese’s cups!  Read more…

The 2018 thriller A Quiet Place was the inspiration for this Halloween couple’s costume — and damn did they really nail it.

If you’re running a horror streaming service, in your wildest dreams John Carpenter would record your theme song.

That’s exactly what the legendary Halloween director and composer has done for streaming platform Shudder, the AMC-owned service that purely streams horror, thriller and supernatural titles.

According to EW, the theme comes in two versions: a five-second clip that’ll appear before the service’s content as the network’s official “moniker,” and the two-minute version above.

Of course, it launches on Oct. 31, making its debut in conjunction with a 24-hour streaming marathon of Carpenter’s films including the 1978 original Halloween. Read more…

Joe Jonas won hearts and Halloween itself on Saturday night with one of the best one-sided couple costumes we’ve ever seen.

Going as the ultimate stan of his bride-to-be, Sophie Turner, Jonas attended a costume party dressed as Sansa Stark, her Game of Thrones character. Meanwhile, the actress behind Sansa went as… an elephant. Perfection.

In case the iconic red wig wasn’t a dead giveaway, Jonas even posted a video of his dramatic entrance as Sansa with the Game of Thrones credits music playing in the background of his Insta story. We’re not sure if it was a great idea to also add a GIF of Sansa’s almost-husband, Tyrion Lannister, to the video — but at least Jon looks like he approves. Read more…
