IHOb is dead and we’re back to IHOP again

TwitterFacebook

Remember all that drama over IHOP changing its name to IHOb?

The pancake chain ruffled feathers last month when it dropped the P for an unexplained lowercase b. After weeks of speculation, it was finally revealed that the b stood for burgers — adding solidly OK burgers to its repertoire of solidly OK breakfast foods. Other fast food chains jumped in on roasting IHOb, sparking the Great Brand Twitter War of 2018.

IHOb should really stand for “International House of betrayal,” because less than a month since the big reveal, the former burger house is reverting back to its pancake roots. In an announcement on Monday, IHOP called its thoroughly underwhelming marketing stunt “the time we faked it.” Read more…

YouTuber honestly reviews IHOP’s overhyped burgers

TwitterFacebook

Last week, IHOP attempted to pull off some viral marketing when it announced it was changing its name to IHOb, and the “b” stood for burgers. Now, we see if those burgers hold up to the hype.

The internet felt duped when the “b” was announced — though they should have seen this coming a mile awayMemes were made and other fast food enterprises trolled the crap out of the breakfast chain.

YouTuber The Report of The Week, aka Reviewbrah, whose specialty is reviewing bad fast food in a suit and tie, tackled one of IHOP’s new burgers this week, and the review is the perfect amount of sarcasm and snark. Read more…

Burger King trolls IHOP in the best way possible

TwitterFacebook

Burger King just got back at IHOP in the pettiest way possible.

Sadly, IHOb doesn’t stand for International House of bancakes. The breakfast chain announced that it had changed its name as a marketing gimmick after adding new burgers to the menu — a move that annoyed a few other fast food empires and the internet at large.

In response, the Wendy’s Twitter account burned IHOP so hard its burgers will probably be inedible for a while, and Waffle House subtweeted the name change with a passive aggressive quote from Bruce Lee. But Burger King was silent on social media.  Read more…

Wendy’s burned IHOb so hard with this pancake diss

TwitterFacebook

Wendy’s had a spicy start to the week.

Like we predicted, IHOb (formerly IHOP) announced that its name change was a marketing stunt for its brand new menu item: burgers.

From International House Of Pancakes to International House of burgers. Why does the b for burgers not deserve capitalization? The statement released by the breakfast chain on Monday didn’t touch on why, but a fellow fast food chain seemed miffed about the new competition.

It started when Wendy’s, which is known for its social media sass, subtweeted IHOb’s announcement with this jab: Read more…

We now officially know what the “B” in IHOP’s new name means

TwitterFacebook

Drumroll, please. Or not – it all depends on your feelings about cheap pancakes.

As we predicted, after weeks of teasing, IHOP’s dropping its big newsAs of Monday, June 11th, 2018, the chain says it’s changed its name to IHOb (for “International House of Burgers”) from IHOP, (for International House of Pancakes.)

Wow. This is just breathtaking stuff.

The company made the announcement with a splashy burger-filled video posted to Twitter on Monday. IHOP customers can look forward to such traditional classics as the “Big Brunch Burger” and the “Cowboy Burger.” Read more…

Why chain restaurants are so much better in the suburbs

TwitterFacebook

Yelp never lies.

The truth is in the stars, and they tell us this: suburban chain restaurant franchises are inherently superior to ones located in cities.

As a New Yorker I’m not supposed to admit any affection for the suburbs at all. But I’ve known this in my heart for as long as I’ve lived here.

Countless times I’ve ordered New York Applebee’s mozzarella sticks only to be served deep fried glue sticks on a mixed appetizer platter of subway infections, posing as a plate. Never have I ever been in a chain restaurant bathroom with proper ventilation. Only in New York do you wait over two hours to be eat iHOP pancakes, congealed to form a singular fetid blob, in a booth stripped off its padding, with only its hard wooden skeleton — and your eviscerated hope — to pad you.
