Keira Knightley on modern films: ‘female characters nearly always get raped’
Keira Knightley is voicing her concern over the way women are treated in films.
In an interview with Variety, the 32-year-old actress discussed how she tends to shy away from taking on modern-day films “because the female characters nearly always get raped.”
“I always find something distasteful in the way women are portrayed, whereas I’ve always found very inspiring characters offered to me in historical pieces,” Knightley said, noting there’s been some improvement over the years but the industry still has a lot of work to do.

Logan Paul has said he thinks “everyone” deserves second chances in his first on-camera interview since he posted a YouTube video showing an apparent victim of suicide.
Paul later took down the video and apologised after being widely criticised. He’s since been removed by YouTube from Google’s preferred ad program.
“Everyone deserves second chances, bro,” Paul said to a reporter from TMZ when he was questioned at LAX airport.

In an interview with Rolling Stone published on Wednesday, the U2 frontman was asked whether or not he believes a “rock and roll revolution” is around the corner, to which he replied “I think music has gotten very girly.”
Hmmmmmmmmmm … you don’t say? What’s that? Oh, nothing — just the sound of women everywhere collectively screaming into the void.
