The KFC Waffle Double Down is coming … but only in Canada

TwitterFacebook

The KFC Waffle Double Down truly is the Pamela Anderson of fast food menu items: Something so quintessentially, obviously all-American that it comes as a shock to realize … it’s Canadian.

Coming soon. 03.26.18pic.twitter.com/aAhtcbu6Wr

— KFC Canada (@kfc_canada) March 23, 2018

The sandwich is billed as a spin on the classic American pairing of chicken and waffles. It consists of two fried chicken fillets around a Belgian waffle – which has been drizzled with Canadian maple syrup aioli, in a nod to its unlikely country of origin.

Since the Waffle Double Down is not available in the U.S., you’ll have to settle for feasting your eyes on this video. Read more…

Adorable child has a bone to pick with KFC

TwitterFacebook

Chicken — it gets personal.

This tiny poultry lover in the UK gave a very passionate interview to Britain’s ITV News on Tuesday after more than 500 KFC stores remained shut following “operational issues” with the fast food titan’s new distribution system.

The child seems pretty calm in the video above, but she assures the interviewer she’s quite upset: “Well, I don’t look sad, but I really am disappointed.”

(Someone tell this girl Popeyes is a far superior chicken joint in both consistency and flavor.)

She makes a good point about the injustice of it all though. “Look at them, they’re just chillin, they’re happy,” she says into the mic. “Sorry, we’re mad with them. We want to get in there, sit down, have some food, but we can’t do that today.” Read more…

KFC has run out of chicken in the UK

TwitterFacebook

A “chicken crisis” is ruffling feathers in the UK and Ireland, after a shortage of chicken prompted most of its 900 KFC branches to close for the day.

On Monday, a shortage of fresh chicken caused by a delivery problem brought hundreds of KFC stores to close across the nation.

In a statement, KFC apologised for denying people their fix of finger lickin’ good chicken. As of Monday night, just 300 of KFC’s branches were still open, according to TIME.

“We know that this might have inconvenienced some of you over the last few days, and disappointed you when you wanted your fried chicken fix — we’re really sorry about that,” read the company’s statement.  Read more…

How Medieval Times got a queen before America got a female president

TwitterFacebook

The future will be female — if not in Congress, than at least with shitty brands.

American women recently broke the glass ceiling in two areas our culture holds dear: corporate family dinner theater and discounted fried chicken. Last weekend, KFC announced that Reba McIntyre would become their first female Colonel Sanders, giving inspiration to little girls who’ve always dreamed of looking like a confederate monument. In December, Medieval Times introduced its first female queen to its dinner theater in Schaumburg, Illinois.

Low-aroma fried chicken is here so you don’t annoy other people on your commute

TwitterFacebook

The smell of fried chicken sure gets people really, really, excited, but there’s always someone out there who isn’t too enthusiastic about that aromatic blend of herbs and spices.

In Japan, where politeness is ever so paramount, KFC is selling a special kind of low-smell fried chicken, according to Sora News 24.

Dubbed “Fried Chicken Home Type,” it’s only available at a particular KFC take-out location inside Shinjuku train station in Tokyo, which is open only until Dec. 31.

KFC sent a painting to that guy who discovered the secret hidden in its Twitter account

TwitterFacebook

If you want to be immortalized by your favorite fast food restaurant, you just need to decode their social media presence.

KFC recently sent a gift to Mike Edgette, the man who recently discovered something clever about the fast food chain’s twitter account.

Remember this special tweet from last month?

.@KFC follows 11 people.

Those 11 people? 5 Spice Girls and 6 guys named Herb

11 Herbs & Spices. I need time to process this.

— Edge (@edgette22) October 19, 2017

Edgette tweeted back in October that KFC’s twitter account followed five spice girls and six random guys named Herb, which adds up to KFC’s famous 11 herbs and spices recipe.   Read more…

KFC Japan made fried chicken bath bombs, even though no one asked for it

TwitterFacebook

Ever imagined yourself in a deep frier? Well, fear not. There’s a new product made just for you to smell like fresh canola oil and chicken grease.

KFC partnered with Japanese retailer Village Vanguard to create fried chicken-scented bath bombs. It shouldn’t be surprising considering the global fast food chain created the Chizza and rice bowls in the past.

The bath bombs are shaped like drumsticks, but don’t look close enough to be delicious in any capacity.
