Sitting down to write this review of macOS Mojave, I thought about which new feature is my favorite, and which is my least favorite. Then I realized I haven’t actually thought about new features in macOS in this way for years. Thinking back to Sierra and High Sierra, I could barely name any new feature, let alone the best and worst of the bunch. Read more…

Apple will release macOS Mojave on September 24. Here’s what’s coming.

TwitterFacebook

At today’s big event, Apple updated its “coming this fall” release of its latest operating system, macOS Mojave, and announced its official drop date: September 24, 2018.

First announced at the 2018 Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this year, the latest Apple operating system will be bringing some cool new features to Mac laptops and desktops. And we know they’re cool because developers have been playing with the beta versions of Mojave, which will officially be macOS version 10.14, since June of this year.

Perhaps one of the most anticipated features of macOS Mojave is dark mode. It seems like every application is getting a dark mode these days and the newest macOS is no exception. Dark mode will be able to turn everything from menu bars to app windows, well, darker, which some users find easier on the eyes. Read more…

Group FaceTime isn’t arriving in September

Group FaceTime’s launch is going to be delayed. The feature, which supports up to 32 people in a single audio or video call, was pulled from the latest iOS 12 and macOS Mojave betas released on Monday, and will be held until a later date, says Apple. Apple delays group FaceTime for iOS 12 and macOS Mojave until ‘later this fall’

TwitterFacebook

One of the most anticipated iOS 12 and macOS Mojave features, group FaceTime, will not arrive when Apple makes both software releases available this fall.

Apple announced group FaceTime at WWDC and hyped it as a seamless way to video chat with up to 32 people simultaneously.

Right before Apple removed the iOS 12 beta 7 because of bugs, users who downloaded the software update noticed the feature had been removed with only the release notes saying it’d “ship in a future software update later this fall.”

How to install the macOS Mojave public beta

You can finally get a taste of macOS 10.14 Mojave

While Apple won’t officially release the next generation of macOS until the fall, that doesn’t mean you have to wait to give it a go. Mojave packs a punch with features like Dark Mode, a redesigned Mac App Store, and under the hood improvements.

Apple’s public beta program has been around since 2015 and offers the chance for consumers to try out the latest and greatest software before the official launch. It’s crucial to note that a public beta is still a beta, meaning there will be bugs, and with those bugs, the chance of losing data. If you’re going to install it, you’ll likely want to do it on a secondary device. And regardless of the Mac you’re installing it on, you should back up all your data beforehand.  Read more…

Apple launches macOS Mojave with Dark Mode, support for some iOS apps

TwitterFacebook

After four mountainous macOS releases, Apple has left the high road and entered the desert. The newest version of the company’s desktop operating system is called macOS Mojave.

The macOS 10.14 Mojave update comes with a bunch of visual changes, including Dark Mode, as well as a new way to organize your desktop and improve your workflow by using your iPhone’s camera to add content to your desktop apps. The newest version of macOS also gets some new apps, including News, Voice Memos and Home, as well as a fresh new App Store.

And no, Apple is not merging macOS and iOS — but it is bringing some iOS apps to the Mac.  Read more…
