Nobody likes a wedding crasher — unless that crasher is Philadelphia Flyers mascot and hero of the Weird Internet, Gritty

On Friday, photos and videos surfaced from a wedding in Philadelphia where the Great Orange One appears to have dropped in unannounced to the utter delight to everyone involved.

Delightful Japanese mascot has its own special use for the baggage claim

TwitterFacebook

Wacky mascots need to travel too.

The Mysterious Fish, mascot of Japanese baseball team, the Chiba Lotte Marines, landed at the Honolulu Airport over the weekend. Thankfully, it was not hounded by the paparazzi and was able to procure its body from the baggage claim and slip right back inside of it.

It must have been too big for a carry on.

There were three mascots in the running and the final decision was chosen by 205,000 elementary school students across Japan.

Of these three, the one at far left (blue and white) has been chosen as the official mascot for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. As of yet unnamed, the mascot has “a strong sense of justice and is very athletic” and “has a special power allowing it to move anywhere instantaneously.” pic.twitter.com/jq94nvEiZD

Brave man went on a harrowing quest to become a Bloomin’ Onion mascot

TwitterFacebook

Some people are just content to live. But some won’t others until they can wear a giant fried food costume at a football game.

Every year on Jan. 1 Outback Steakhouse sponsors the Outback Bowl, a big college football game that also features a bizarre fried mascot: a Bloomin’ Onion, just like the one you can find on the steakhouse’s menu.

Ryan Nanni, a contributor for SB Nation, announced at the beginning of this year that he was on a quest to don the fried onion costume for the big game. To underline this, his Twitter bio reads, “My only professional goal for 2017: to serve as the Blooming Onion at the next Outback Bowl.” Read more…
