‘Hotline Bling’ mashed up with ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing’ actually works

Carols don’t really go with much, except the holidays.

But surprisingly, the lyrics of Drake’s 2016 hit “Hotline Bling” seem to go pretty well with the melody of Christmas carol “Hark the Herald Angels Sing.”

Twitter user Becca Rose posted a video of herself singing the mashup, which she said was discovered in a Tumblr post

And hey, you know what, it really does go well together.

Recently I saw a post from tumblr user chlostars that noted “Hotline Bling” has the same syllables as the Christmas carol “Hark the Herald Angels sing.” I took this as a personal challengepic.twitter.com/wiht02pvt5

This viral mashup of Kendrick Lamar and ‘Take On Me’ is the catchiest thing you’ll hear today

TwitterFacebook

What do you get when you mix together Norwegian synthpop from the ’80s with 2012 American rap? The answer is a surprisingly catchy tune.

Student Noah Charlick uploaded a mashup of the classic 1984 hit “Take On Me” by a-ha and “Backseat Freestyle” by rapper Kendrick Lamar. Since then, the video has gone viral.

“I’ve either made a great discovery or a terrible mistake,” Charlick wrote as a caption for the video, which currently has 4,5 million views, 155,000 retweets, and over 400,000 likes.

People on Twitter are really into this genre-bending mashup.  Read more…

Please watch this video of a deer paired with Phil Collins’ ‘In the Air Tonight’ immediately

TwitterFacebook

Here’s a clip that will instill immense, inexplicable joy within you.

In the short, 18-second clip uploaded by Josh Ballico on Monday, a deer walks out from the woods and climbs through a child’s play-set, and a few seconds of Collins’ original “In the Air Tonight” music video plays at the end. That’s pretty much it — and yet, for some reason this video is so outrageously funny.

The moment the deer tumbles through the play-set is timed perfectly with the song’s dramatic drum fill. And the fact that the deer’s tongue is perpetually stuck out is a gift to us all.

I have literally watched this video four times since my first initial watch, and I’m fairly certain I will be returning to this video throughout the day. It is art. I beckon you all to watch it with me in perpetuity. Read more…

Why the YouTube of AR won’t be YouTube

A couple of years ago when I was working at Samsung, around the time the GearVR was being launched, there were lots of ideas flying around regarding the services to offer alongside the device. Many (most) of these ideas were related to hosting 360 Video content, and our boss David Eun (ex-YouTube) often reminded everyone that YouTube will be the YouTube of VR. He meant that the content on… Read More
