Kendrick Lamar and SZA release the first music video from the ‘Black Panther’ soundtrack

TwitterFacebook

Black Panther is almost here but to tide you over, we finally have a music video for the soundtrack’s lead single, “All The Stars.”

Top Dawg Entertainment heavyweight Kendrick Lamar is at the helm of the music accompanying the film, and in “All The Stars,” he shines bright with label mate SZA. Once again, frequent Lamar collaborators Dave Meyers & the little homies handle the music video. Dave Chappelle kept ‘interrupting’ Kendrick Lamar’s incredible Grammy performance — and it was perfect

TwitterFacebook

We all know there’s such a thing as bad interruptions during live award shows, but Dave Chappelle showed us all how it’s done on Sunday night during the 2018 Grammy Awards.

During a charged performance from Kendrick Lamar that kicked off the ceremonies, the comedian popped out of nowhere to bless us all with quick quips and remarks throughout the powerful medley that Lamar delivered—and it’s safe to say people ate it up.

His first interlude came w a poignant statement: “I just wanted to remind the audience that the only thing more frightening than watching a black man be honest in America is being an honest black man in America,” Chappelle said, before Lamar continued performing.  Read more…

Kendrick Lamar didn’t diss Donald Trump during halftime of the College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday night like some fans thought he would.

But he did introduce a new TV spot for Marvel’s Black Panther. There’s not a ton of new footage here; it mostly just adds emphasis on the conflict between Chad Boseman and Michael B. Jordan’s characters.

Still, any footage — and music from Kendrick — is still pretty exciting. (He’s actually helping put the soundtrack together.) The movie drops on Feb. 16, and you can pre-order tickets starting todayRead more…

Kendrick Lamar is producing the ‘Black Panther’ soundtrack, and he just dropped the first song

Thought you couldn’t possibly get any more excited for Marvel’s Black Panther

What if we told you Kendrick Lamar produced the soundtrack? And that the first song from it is a new song by him and SZA? And that you can listen to it right here, right now?

That’s what we thought.

Per the press release, Lamar is working with Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith to curate and produce Black Panther: The Album, in close collaboration with Black Panther director Ryan Coogler.

“Marvel Studios’ Black Panther is amazing, from its cast to its director. The magnitude of this film showcases a great marriage of art and culture,” Lamar said in the statement. “I’m truly honored to contribute my knowledge of producing sound and writing music alongside Ryan and Marvel’s vision.” Read more…
