Oprah’s Golden Globes speech has us all begging her to run for president

We knew Sunday’s Golden Globes would be an emotional affair, but we didn’t expect it to kick off Oprah’s political career.

Now, to be fair, when Oprah Winfrey gave her extremely moving speech upon accepting the Cecil B.  DeMille award, she didn’t explicitly say that she would run for president in 2020. But as she imparted hope, wisdom, and the promise of a brighter future, that didn’t stop many people from wishing she would. 

Actually, scratch that. Many people just decided to believe that she’s running and leaving it at that. 

And who can blame them.

A disrespectful scammer has dared to impersonate Oprah

It appears that some reckless online scammer has decided that of all the celebrities to impersonate, they’d like to take a stab at Oprah. 

As expected, though, Oprah is onto them. In a video posted to her Instagram and Twitter accounts on Thursday, she warns the people not to fall for the scam accounts — which, apparently, are primarily on Instagram and use her name and avatar to host fake “giveaways.”

“Hi, everybody. I just wanted you to know that somebody out there is trying to scam you using my name and my avatar on social media, asking for money if you sign up for an OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) account on Instagram,” she says. When news of Harvey Weinstein’s sexual misconduct broke, Jennifer Lawrence was having lunch with Oprah Winfrey — and they talked about everything but the producer. A few weeks later, The Hollywood Reporter brought the two together again so Winfrey could interview Lawrence, and they finally had the Weinstein conversation.

“We do have a responsibility to say something; we’ve all worked with him, but everybody needed a moment,” Lawrence said. “Just speaking for myself, I had known him since I was 20, and he had only ever been nice to me — except for the moments that he wasn’t, and then I called him an asshole, and we moved on. He was paternal to me. So I needed a moment to process everything because I thought I knew this guy, and then he’s being accused of rape.” Read more…
