Amazon’s not declaring it a redo, but the Echo Spot, the company’s latest Alexa-powered smart speaker — smart alarm clock is probably more accurate — might as well be one.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is only days away, but the first reviews are in and not only does it live up to the hype – it surpasses it. For the first time in many of our lifetimes, here is a Star Wars film being compared to A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back, and we could not be more ready.
Mashable’s own Chris Taylor reviewed the film and has already seen it twice (he’s a bit of a fan), and he said it “triggers strong emotions and hard feelings, but also gasps of sheer delight and roars of laughter in multiple audiences.” It’s “highly-concentrated Star Wars juice” (with a side of Porgs) that fans will devour. Huawei’s new flagship phones, the Mate 10 and the Mate 10 Pro, are like a typical Hollywood blockbuster — polished in all areas, but entirely void of originality.
This has always been the case for Huawei, which is still struggling to get significant traction in the U.S. despite being the world’s second-largest smartphone manufacturer. I’ve given up waiting for Huawei to wow me; instead, I’d like to see the company produce a phone that’s really, really good at everything.
With the latest duo of large-screened flagships, Huawei still hasn’t done it, but it came really, really close.

Acer Mixed Reality Headset gets the VR experience right

The best test of any virtual reality system is how quickly can you forget you’re wearing a virtual reality system? By this measure alone, Acer’s Windows Mixed Reality Headset (and the included motion controllers) is a very good VR system.
Within minutes of donning the headset and finding a VR game to play, I lost myself in the experience. And it wasn’t just me. Each person I asked to try Acer’s headset has the same reaction, especially when I dropped them into the excellent Super Hot virtual reality game.
