Not everyone’s celebrating the royal wedding. Some want the monarchy abolished.

TwitterFacebook

As the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle approaches, you’re bound to see lots of positive, feel-good stories about the royals popping up on your feed. You may like these stories, but statistically you probably feel totally indifferent

But there are some people who would like to see the monarchy — and with it royal clickbait — abolished.

Republic is an anti-monarchist group, with 5,000 paying members and 40,000 supporters. Their mission statement reads: “We want to see the monarchy abolished and the Queen replaced with an elected, democratic head of state.” Read more…

It’s not everyday that an American marries into the British royal family. And the invitations for this momentous event contain a rather subtle nod to this transatlantic union.

Kensington Palace revealed photos of the happy couple’s wedding invitations, which “follow many years of Royal tradition.”

This Kate Middleton finger optical illusion is confusing the internet

TwitterFacebook

Unfathomably massive levels of press coverage are pretty much a daily occurrence when you’re a member of the Royal Family.

You go out for a drive? Coverage. First day at school? Coverage. Telling a photographer to “just take the fucking picture”? Definite coverage.

Oh, and if you hold a bag in a way that makes three of your fingers look a similar length, you had better believe there’ll be some coverage.

Or, more accurately: WHY ARE 75% OF KATE’S FINGERS A ROUGHLY SIMILAR LENGTH?

I won’t sleep now….pic.twitter.com/Ft8aI5glXH

TwitterFacebook

All eyes were on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle this week as they embarked on their second public engagement together to a youth radio station in Brixton, south London.

While much attention was focused on the engaged couple’s body language, Markle’s interactions with the crowds and even her choice of outfit, there’s one detail that appears to have slipped beneath the radar—the significance of the location of their visit.

The royal visit to Reprezent—the only national radio station in the UK that’s presented by young people—shows a commitment to engaging with young people in a refreshingly natural and down-to-earth way. Prince Harry and Markle’s decision to visit Reprezent for their second engagement as a couple is a clear message that the royals are tuned in and listening to Britain’s youth.  Read more…
