Porg babies from ‘The Last Jedi’ are here and, uh, what are we looking at exactly

TwitterFacebook

As with all babies, we knew they were coming — but it’s still a shock when they arrived.

Porgs, those beloved `puffin-like creatures in The Last Jedi, will also be seen on screen in a baby version — and as of Wednesday we have our first look at them, above, thanks to a Japanese toy website

“There’s a brief little moment in The Last Jedi where there’s a porg and then there’s a little baby porg next to the porg,” Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy told Lucasfilm’s in-house Star Wars Show last week. “It doesn’t get better than that.” Read more…

‘Last Jedi’ posters have fans concerned Luke is going to the Dark Side

TwitterFacebook

With 38 days to go until The Last Jedi officially opens, Lucasfilm — and Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill — are setting their phasers to “troll.”

A new international poster advertising the IMAX 3D version of the movie consists of two giant panels. One has a white background and features characters and objects we think of as light side (Rey, Finn, Poe, Leia, Rose, the Millennium Falcon, a blue lightsaber); the other has a grey background and pro-First Order, Dark Side figures (Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma, Star Destroyers, TIE fighters and a red lightsaber.)

Here’s the thing: Luke features prominently in both panels.  Read more…

How littleBits grew from side project to Star Wars

Like many of the most compelling startups, littleBits began life as a side-hustle — no expectations, no early push for venture capital. Just a bit of tinkering to pass the time. Ayah Bdeir was a recent MIT grad with a fellowship at New York City architecture design firm I-Beam when the seeds of the company first sprouted. Read More

John Boyega has heard your Finn theories about ‘The Last Jedi’ and he has some notes

TwitterFacebook

You think Game of Thrones has fan theories? That’s cute. Nowhere’s got fan theories like the galaxy far, far away. (I blame Supreme Leader Snoke, but that’s just my theory.)

Many of these theories currently concern the notion that there is more than one Jedi in The Last Jedi. Director Rian Johnson keeps shooting that whole thing down — Luke is specifically named the last Jedi in the opening crawl of The Force Awakens, he notes. This ancient, lightsaber-twirling, Force-filled order has no other official adherents, and Luke thinks it must end.

This indestructible mug kinda looks like Luke Skywalker’s blue milk cup, right guys?

Does this mug look at all familiar to you? To me it looks a little like the one Luke uses to drink his blue milk in A New Hope.

Luke going back to the Millennium Falcon will give every nerd the feels for years

TwitterFacebook

No matter what else happens in The Last Jedi, we now know it contains the moment every fanboy and fangirl has been waiting to see for years: Luke Skywalker re-entering the Millennium Falcon.

The scene dropped Wednesday night in a re-edited version of last month’s first full trailer. Luke is seen walking into the famous Falcon cockpit, a place we haven’t seen him — shockingly — since the original 1977 Star Wars, latterly called A New Hope. (Yes, he came aboard the Falcon after falling down a giant tube in Cloud City, but not in anything more than a delirious state).

New ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ trailer prepares you for some twists

There’s a new 45 second spot for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which premiered tonight during some kind of sport ball game, but which is lucky also available on the internet so you can just watch it above. This doesn’t provide too much more compared to what we’ve seen in the longer spots, but it does give you a few all new clips, and it ends with a line from Luke that sounds like… Read More
