Steven Spielberg’s virtual reality epic Ready Player One has landed, primed for geek-culture aficionados to smugly point out references all the way through.

Introduced by Spielberg himself at a secret screening at this year’s SXSW in Austin, Texas, the highly anticipated film earned a standing ovation at the credits (even after a few technical difficulties with sound).

Standing ovation for Spielberg after the #ReadyPlayerOne premiere. “That was probably the greatest anxiety attack I’ve ever had,” he said, alluding to the screening’s technical difficulties (truth is, it actually only made the crowd more excited) #SXSW pic.twitter.com/FxYMfk7LZf

Because Emmys and handmaids aren’t enough, Hulu is jumping into the family TV market with a revival of the kooky ’90s series Animaniacs

Steven Spielberg will executive produce the Warner Bros. and Amblin Entertainment series for two brand-new seasons.

Animaniacs first debuted on the WB in 1993 and ran for 99 episodes.

Mashable first reported rumor of a reboot in May 2017, when the show’s resurgent popularity on Netflix was gaining attention. (It’s since been removed from Netflix – guess where it lives now?) Now we know for sure: Yakko, Wakko, and Dot will be bursting out of the Warner Bros. tower to wreak havoc on whatever state the world is in come 2020, when the revival premieres. Read more…

Journalists race to expose government lies in the first trailer for Steven Spielberg’s ‘The Post’

TwitterFacebook

Well, this all feels chillingly familiar.

Steven Spielberg’s The Post centers on a team of journalists working to expose the U.S. government for lying to the American people. But it’s not a story about our current situation – it’s about The Washington Post publishing the Pentagon Papers in the 1970s.

Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks star as publisher Katharine Graham and editor Ben Bradlee, respectively, who put their careers and their freedom on the line in pursuit of the truth.

The all-star cast also includes Bob Odenkirk, Carrie Coon, Sarah Paulson, David Cross, Alison Brie, Bruce Greenwood, Tracy Letts, Jesse Plemons, Michael Stuhlbarg, Matthew Rhys, and Zach Woods. Read more…
