Netflix cancels ’13 Reasons Why’ Season 2 premiere after school shooting

Following the Santa Fe High School shooting in Texas that left ten victims dead, Netflix announced that it would cancel the 13 Reasons Why Season 2 premiere event set to take place later that day in Los Angeles on Friday, May 13.

In a statement, the company wrote, “Our hearts are with the victims of the Santa Fe High School shooting, and with all victims of gun violence. In light of today’s tragedy, we are cancelling the 13 Reasons Why S2 premiere event tonight.”

YouTube tweets ‘open letter’ about Logan Paul’s suicide video

In a series of tweets on Tuesday, YouTube condemned the disturbing suicide video shared by Logan Paul. 

The YouTube star, who currently has more than 15 million subscribers, shared a video on New Year’s Day of a dead body he found in Japan’s Aokigahara forest, known for the suicides that take place there.

Afterwards, YouTube was criticized by many — including Mashable — for not doing more to prevent these kinds of videos from appearing on the platform.

YouTube star Logan Paul apologises for video depicting an apparent victim of suicide

YouTube star Logan Paul has issued an apology for posting a video containing footage of an apparent victim of suicide, but it might not be enough for some.

In the now-removed video, the 22-year-old vlogger visited Japan’s Aokigahara forest on the northwestern flank of Mount Fuji. The forest’s name translates to the “Sea of Trees” but is known internationally as the “Suicide Forest,” the site of hundreds of suicides every year.

According to New York Magazine, Paul posted a video to his 15 million YouTube subscribers with the title “We found a dead body in the Japanese Suicide Forest…” that was meant to be the third part of his “Tokyo Adventures,” series. The publisher reports that the video contained footage of a person who had apparently died by suicide, with their face blurred. Read more…
