Tarantino responds to the ‘Kill Bill’ crash footage that Uma Thurman posted on Instagram

TwitterFacebook

Quentin Tarantino has addressed Uma Thurman’s crash on the set of Kill Bill following her piece in the New York Times and a subsequent Instagram post in which she says she is “proud” of the director.

In an interview with the New York Times, Thurman described being pressured into driving a car which crashed on the set of Kill Bill. She then uploaded the footage of the crash to Instagram, accompanied by a statement about who she finds responsible.

i post this clip to memorialize it’s full exposure in the nyt by Maureen Dowd. the circumstances of this event were negligent to the point of criminality. i do not believe though with malicious intent. Quentin Tarantino, was deeply regretful and remains remorseful about this sorry event, and gave me the footage years later so i could expose it and let it see the light of day, regardless of it most likely being an event for which justice will never be possible. he also did so with full knowledge it could cause him personal harm, and i am proud of him for doing the right thing and for his courage. THE COVER UP after the fact is UNFORGIVABLE. for this i hold Lawrence Bender, E. Bennett Walsh, and the notorious Harvey Weinstein solely responsible. they lied, destroyed evidence, and continue to lie about the permanent harm they caused and then chose to suppress. the cover up did have malicious intent, and shame on these three for all eternity. CAA never sent anyone to Mexico. i hope they look after other clients more respectfully if they in fact want to do the job for which they take money with any decency. Read more…

Uma Thurman’s story about Quentin Tarantino adds another layer to the #MeToo conversation

TwitterFacebook

After The New York Times published Uma Thurman’s #MeToo account on Saturday, one person dominated the coverage — Harvey Weinstein.

But the actress recounted two stories of abuse in the Times piece, one featuring Harvey Weinstein and the other, Quentin Tarantino. Only the Weinstein story featured sexual assault and misconduct, which is why only one would be classified as a traditional #MeToo story.

The allegations against Tarantino are harder to classify. They don’t involve sexual assault or harassment or anything that could be neatly categorized as sexual misconduct. But both stories, however distant from one another they may seem, involve an abuse of power that feels both gendered and familiar, adding a whole other layer of complexity to the increasingly intricate #MeToo conversation. Ellen DeGeneres, Uma Thurman urge voters to ditch Roy Moore

Alabama heads to the polls Tuesday, and the Senate race between Democrat Doug Jones and beleaguered Republican candidate Roy Moore is exceptionally tight with just hours to go.

No Democrat has won an election for Senate (or even governor) in Alabama in nearly two decades, but the litany of allegations of sexual misconduct against Roy Moore have helped push Jones to a ten point lead, if Fox News’ latest poll is to be believed.
