Apple’s Mac App Store gets a complete makeover

TwitterFacebook

The Mac App Store is getting a major facelift, Apple announced at WWDC on Monday.

In its new macOS, Mojave, the App store will become more robust in a few different ways.

First, it will straight up offer more apps — even Microsoft’s Office 365. WHOA. Apple also spotlighted the arrival of Adobe and several gaming apps.

Microsoft is bringing Office 365 and Adobe is bringing Creative Cloud to the new Mac App Store later this year. I wonder what kind of developer revenue cut they worked out? 🤔 #WWDC18 #macOS #Mojave

Apple just introduced a new Pride watch band and matching watch face

TwitterFacebook

The rumor mill was correct! Apple is launching a new Pride watch face today as part of LGBTQ Pride Month.

What we didn’t know was that a new Pride watch band is coming as well — and it matches the new face beautifully.

Last June, Apple launched a Pride watch band with a full rainbow gradient design on a woven nylon band. That band was taken of the market last September. The new band has white background with a rainbow gradient on top, and it will match perfectly with the watch face, as the color strands continue on the screen. Read more…

RIP Bitmoji: Apple debuts ‘Memoji’ with iOS 12

TwitterFacebook

Snapchat may be shaking, because Apple will now let you become an Animoji with their new Memoji feature.

You’ll remember Animojis as those 3D emojis capable of replicating your facial expressions and voice. The key difference with Memoji? Instead of being a bear or tiger, you can be yourself.

You might be doing a double take with Samsung’s AR Emoji, but don’t. While similar, Apple’s Memoji look much less awkward, and they allow for more customizations.

As demoed on stage at WWDC 18, you’ll be able to create your own Memoji in the Messages app in iOS 12. (The new OS should launch in the fall.) You start off by choosing skin color and hairstyle. From there, you can customize almost every other feature, from earrings to glasses and much more. Read more…
