Yelp reviewers are spamming Trump hotels with “shithole” reviews

Since The Washington Post reported that Donald Trump allegedly asked lawmakers, “Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” during a White House discussion on America’s immigration deal, the president has been getting dragged.

Trump’s offensive words struck a chord with people from El Salvador, Haiti, and countries in Africa, along with many others, and unfortunately for him, some of those disappointed people have Yelp accounts.

Now, angry Yelp users are flooding the comments of Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., with one-star reviews, labelling Trump’s establishment a — wait for it — “shithole.” Read more…

Yelp doesn’t get the best reviews these days.

Check the company’s own business page on its website, and you’ll find a laundry list of single-star reasons why people have come to mistrust the reviews hub: high-profile scandals, accusations of censorship, conspiracy theories.

“They suppress real customer reviews that don’t fit into their utopian view of what a review should be,” said one representative user. “Stop trying to social engineer and steer consumers by picking the winners and losers.”

Yelp beats earnings, but outlook is bad

 Yelp, the platform which connects consumers and local businesses, posted third-quarter earnings after the bell on Wednesday.
Yelp’s net revenue for the third quarter was $222.4 million, 19 percent growth for the same period last year. This compares to analyst estimates of $220.8 million, according to Yahoo Finance.
