2018: The year in Internet Boyfriends

TwitterFacebook

Like porn, Internet Boyfriends are hard to define — but also like porn, you know them when you see them. And 2018 was downright lousy with them.

Some were fresh faces we’d never encountered before. (Well, most of us. We see you, Lady Who’s Been Crushing On Winston Duke Since Person of Interest.) Others were guys we’d known about for years, but started seeing in a whole new light. And still more were dudes we already loved, but somehow came to love even more within the past 12 months.

What unites them is the way they brought so many of us together in 2018. These guys weren’t just our crushes, they were everyone’s crushes, and we collectively got personally invested in a way we don’t for just any pretty, famous face.  Read more…

Adam Rippon and other US Olympic stars decline White House meeting with Trump

Imagine becoming one of the most celebrated athletes in the world. Now imagine that the reward for your hard work is being asked to sit down with a man who mostly seems to want to scream conspiracy theories at the television and talk about how hot hi…

Sally Field’s son finally gets to meet crush, Adam Rippon. My heart.

TwitterFacebook

More mothers should get involved in celebrity boyfriend advocacy work.

Just look at what Sally Field has been able to accomplish for her son in a short amount of time. Last month, Field announced that her son, Sam Greisman, had a crush on Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon.

Greisman was finally able to meet Rippon at a gala dinner last night in Los Angeles.

Look at the happy not-yet-probably-won’t-happen couple.

Thanks, mompic.twitter.com/m25Er4EEfD

In February, Greisman screenshotted a conversation he had with his mother about Rippon and shared it on Twitter. Read more…

Adam Rippon and Leslie Jones’ hilarious figure skating commentary is everything

TwitterFacebook

It was a match made in Winter Olympics heaven.

Figure skating champion of our hearts Adam Rippon teamed up with Saturday Night Live star Leslie Jones for the ultimate Olympic commentary.

The two personalities teamed up on Monday to hilariously commentate on Canadian figure skaters Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir’s short dance. The pair not only won gold for their performance, but also dazzled Rippon and Jones.

“Are they getting in trouble for how sexy they are?”@lesdoggg and @adaripp commentating on @tessavirtue and @scottmoir‘s short dance is everything we could have ever wanted. AND MORE#WinterOlympics https://t.co/fmMl0C4Amf pic.twitter.com/ykkNvv7L5p

Adam Rippon just won a different kind of Olympic prize: A spot on NBC

TwitterFacebook

Adam Rippon may be done skating at this year’s Winter Olympics, but thankfully that doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of him.

In addition to winning a bronze medal in the team skating event, the 28-year-old figure skater has made headlines both as one of two openly gay U.S. male athletes competing in Pyeongchang and for speaking up to Vice President Mike Pence in support of LGBTQ rights.

Oh, also for his sass — an element of his personality that will likely be on full display as he spends the rest of the Olympics working as an NBC correspondent.

That’s right, NBC offered Rippon a gig, and according to USA Today Sports he accepted. That means we’ll see his beauty on TV, digital streams, and social media.  Read more…

Adam Rippon is an immortal witch

TwitterFacebook

“I’m like a witch and you can’t kill me.”

That’s an actual quote from U.S. Winter Olympian and immortal sorcerer Adam Rippon. It made its way into a short bio aired by NBC on Thursday.

During NBC’s online streaming of his men’s short program routine on Thursday, an animated bio appeared offering up several facts about the 28-year-old Olympic medalist.

One: He’s the eldest of six children. Pretty standard. Two: He broke his foot in January 2017 and didn’t compete for 11 months. Facts. And three…

If you’re not following Adam Rippon on Twitter during the Winter Olympics, you’re doing it wrong

TwitterFacebook

Fun fact: Adam Rippon is good at figure skating.

Another fun fact: Adam Rippon is also good at tweeting. Like, VERY good at it. Like, make-Twitter-an-Olympic-sport-then-give-Adam-a-gold-medal levels of good at tweeting.

Since he arrived at Pyeongchang, Rippon — a.k.a America’s sweetheart — has been tweeting up a storm.

And while other people have been sending out Bad Tweets about the Olympics (*cough* Bari Weiss *cough*), Rippon has been tweeting dispatches from his Olympic journey, as well as sending out support to some of his fellow competitors, with a flair and a panache that has been, quite frankly addicting.  Read more…

Olympian Adam Rippon speaks out about his starvation diet

TwitterFacebook

Olympian Adam Rippon has spoken candidly about his starvation diet for the same reason he publicly came out: to start a conversation.

The U.S. figure skating champion told the New York Times of his incredibly strict 2016 diet, which consisted of three pieces of bread and not much else.

“It was 2016, and Rippon was subsisting mostly on a daily diet of three slices of whole grain bread topped with miserly pats of the spread I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter,” Times sports reporter Karen Crouse wrote. “He supplemented his ‘meals’ with three cups of coffee, each sweetened with six packs of Splenda.” Read more…
