Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez came up with GrinchCon, a perfect SantaCon alternative

Donald Trump Jr. uses awful dog-eating meme to attack Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

TwitterFacebook

Donald Trump Jr. just posted something very dumb and bad on Instagram and I swear this is not a repeat.

This time, the president’s son went after newly-elected congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her democratic socialist background by using a meme about eating dogs.

Making the whole post even worse is Junior’s caption, “It’s funny cuz it’s true!!!” Setting aside for a moment the racist roots of dog-eating jokes, the meme is likely a reference to the currently horrific conditions in Venezuela where citizens have reportedly been reduced to hunting and eating rats and dogs due to food shortages due to the country’s economic collapse which many blame on its current socialist president. It’s been a recent tag line of conservatives, who seemed spooked by the success of democratic socialist candidates like Ocasio-Cortez.  Read more…

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez finally gets the ‘SNL’ treatment

TwitterFacebook

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez received her first Saturday Night Live treatment on the latest episode.

Cast member Melissa Villaseñor played the newly-elected member of Congress in a sketch parodying Morning Joe hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski. (The two recently got married.)

Villaseñor’s impression focused largely on Ocasio-Cortez’s optimism as she begins her term in Congress, as well as her frankness about money. The portrayal is mostly kind — it takes more stabs at Ocasio-Cortez’s doubters than the rep-elect herself — although it does paint her as perhaps overly buoyant.

“I’m a millennial, so getting any full time job is overcoming incredible odds,” she says. “I’m actually still working for TaskRabbit.” Read more…

How an app developer helped Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez make history

TwitterFacebook

In the wake of the 2016 presidential election, app developer Leo Sussan was unhappy and looking for a way to become more politically active. So he volunteered for a long-shot congressional candidate, 29-year-old Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, in New York City.

Since he was a full-time employee at a real estate startup, Sussan offered his programming skills to the campaign during his off-hours. The app he and his small team created, Reach, reimagined the way volunteers found other sympathetic voters — and ultimately helped get Ocasio-Cortez elected.

Historically, political campaigns have reached voters through a process called “canvassing,” or making direct contact with people door-to-door. Apps typically facilitated this process by giving volunteers in the field an easy way to access a list of voters compiled by the Democratic Party. Read more…

Can you believe Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had the nerve to grow up in a HOUSE? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

TwitterFacebook

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the 28-year-old who recently won a huge upset in the New York Democratic primary, has no time for people trying to discredit her hard work.

On Sunday, conservative John Cardillo — a host of Newsmax’s “America Talks Live” — posted a photograph of Ocasio-Cortez’s childhood home in Yorktown Heights on Twitter.

He shared the image because he felt the house showed a far different from the struggle-filled childhood in the Bronx Ocasio-Cortez claims to have had, but believe it or not the tweet didn’t wind up working in his favor.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s reaction to winning the Democratic Primary is too pure for this world

TwitterFacebook

A political movement has started, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is on her way to make history.

On Tuesday night, the 28-year-old New York Democratic primary candidate knocked longtime Democratic Representative Joseph Crowley, who was being considered to take over as Speaker of the House, out of the running.

After the results were announced, Spectrum News NY1 shared a video of Ocasio-Cortez learning she’d won the majority votes of New York’s 14th Congressional District. Her reaction is truly one of the greatest things we’ve ever seen.

Please try not to cry tears of joy as you watch Ocasio-Cortez widen her eyes, scream, and give a passionate speech thanking all her supporters. Read more…
