‘Avengers: Infinity War’ really let down the Children of Thanos

Spoiler alert for Avengers: Infinity War

Cry all you want at the death-filled finale of Avengers: Infinity War. In truth, the movie’s most upsetting move was its treatment of the Children of Thanos.

Let’s put aside the comic book source that inspired the Mad Titan’s quartet of cronies for a moment. The beings we meet in the movie are cool characters unto themselves. 

Cull Obsidian, the big, Hulk-like alien with his hammer-whip-thing. Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight, sci-fi staff-wielding acrobats that exude skill and menace in equal measures. Ebony Maw — creepy AF, hyper-intelligent, clearly the most sadistic member of the group. Read more…

So Donald Glover tweeted out a script for his canned ‘Deadpool’ cartoon

Donald Glover was all set to do an animated Deadpool series with Marvel TV..until he wasn’t. Thank goodness he has Twitter.

That cartoon could have been epic. The Atlanta creator and true star of Solo: A Star Wars Story knows his way around both comedy and social commentary, and he surely would have done amazing things with Deadpool.

But alas, it’s not to be. Glover and Marvel TV parted ways over the weekend, with FX — the network Deadpool was intended for (technically it was FXX) — citing “creative differences.” A real shame. Read more…

Black Panther’s Dora Milaje are getting their own comics spinoff

The Dora Milaje, Wakanda’s own elite force of female protectors, are getting their own comic book spinoff.

A new collection of one-shot comics under the name Wakanda Forever was announced Friday by Marvel editor Wil Moss. 

Written by Nnedi Okorafor with art by Alberto Alburquerque, the comic books will focus on Okoye, Ayo, and Aneka of the Dora Milaje as their story arc moves through Amazing Spider-Man, X-Men, and Avengers.

Okoye, Ayo, Aneka and the Dora Milaje meet the Marvel Universe in WAKANDA FOREVER, a three-part story written by @Nnedi that will run across three one-shots, all sporting covers by @TerryDodsonArt. This comic breaks down student protesters’ rights ahead of National School Walkout for gun control

As students across America prepare to stage a National School Walkout in protest of gun violence on March 14, cartoonist Kai Texel wants to make sure they known their rights.

Texel partered with the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (CBLDF) and National Coalition Against Censorship (NCAC) to launch Be Heard! — a free educational comic book that seeks to inform students of the best practices to carry out while protesting, peacefully assembling, and asserting their First Amendment rights.

The nationwide school and university walkout will take place on the one-month anniversary of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on Feb. 14.  Read more…
