Naming a dog after someone you know can provoke mixed feelings. Is it a sign of great respect? Is it just a little bit weird, perhaps? 

Well, all we can tell you is that Dolly Parton didn’t quite know how to feel when Jennifer Aniston told her she’d once named a dog after her. 

On Jimmy Kimmel Live, Aniston said that she’d met Parton for the first time seven years ago, and told her then that she’d named her pooch after her. 

But, during a press junket for the movie Dumplin’ — featuring music by Parton and starring Aniston — Parton divulged that she had mixed feelings about the tribute. 

“Yesterday Dolly and I were doing press and somehow that came up,” Aniston said. “She said: ‘I know when she [Aniston] said ‘I named my dog Dolly after you,’ I didn’t know how I felt about that.’ Read more…

The singer and all-round legend tweeted a meme that pretty much any Dolly fan will instantly understand. 

Those who’ve ever listened to the lyrics of the 1973 song “Jolene” will know the song tells the story of a woman whose partner has feelings for another woman, namely Jolene.

The Dolly Parton/Adele friendship is real, folks.

On Tuesday, Adele got dressed up and paid tribute to the legendary country singer in a cheery Twitter post.

“The effortless Queen of song, Dolly Parton!” she wrote. “We love you! We wish we could possess an ounce of your ability. You were the hero of our night! The hero of my life. I’ll always love you.”

Well, on Wednesday, Parton responded.
