Jake Gyllenhaal paused his play to help an audience member because he’s literally the best

If for some ridiculous reason you needed further proof that Jake Gyllenhaal is pretty much a perfect human being, then look no further.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show, Gyllenhaal spoke to Fallon about Sea Wall/A Life — the play he’s currently starring in at The Public Theater in New York. And from the sounds of it, even being immersed in a lengthy monologue doesn’t deter him from helping a stranger.

“The other day a woman was coughing, like really, really loudly,” Gyllenhaal says in the clip above. “And I felt so bad for her.”

Rather than ignoring it, Gyllenhaal broke from his monologue to ask the woman if she was okay. And even though she said she was, he went one better. Read more…

TwitterFacebook

The following is a spoiler-free review for Velvet Buzzsaw.

Horror movies. They’ll make you laugh. They’ll make you scream. And then, if you’re really lucky, they’ll make you do both. At the same time.

Dan Gilroy, the visionary creator behind the 2014 thriller Nightcrawler, has once again teamed up with stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Rene Russo — this time for a terrifying take on the world of modern art in Netflix’s Velvet Buzzsaw. Aptly marketed as a satirical thriller, Gilroy’s deliriously and devilishly fun romp isn’t breaking much new ground for the genre, but it does manage to uncover the rarely enjoyed holy grail of scary movie experiences: the laugh scream. Jake Gyllenhaal discusses the day he saw Stephen Colbert’s entire penis

TwitterFacebook

Jake Gyllenhaal is not new to The Late Show. In fact the last appearance he made — playing an orphan boy opposite an underwear-less Ebeneezer Scrooge/Stephen Colbert for the Midterm Election special — was clearly quite a memorable one.

“Yes, that was the day I saw your entire penis,” Gyllenhaal reminds Colbert in the clip above.

What follows are plenty of puns (“It’s not a long… day,” chips in Colbert), some talk about who the favourite Gyllenhaal is (an old clip of Colbert telling Maggie it was her is resurfaced), and finally a bit about Gyllenhaal’s upcoming Mysterio debut.

But it all comes back to the penis in the end. Read more…
