Kate McKinnon’s ghostly encounter story slays a giggling Liev Schreiber on ‘SNL’

TwitterFacebook

Kate McKinnon has claimed another victim on Saturday Night Live: Liev Schreiber.

The guest host put up a good fight, but once McKinnon got going — she was raving about her ghostly encounter as she straddled across two chairs and smashed her butt against Schreiber’s — it was all over.

He never stood a chance. Schreiber broke character and giggled his way through the rest of the sketch. Another classic McKinnon-induced SNL break. Read more…

‘SNL’ cold open says goodbye to Jeff Sessions, with an assist from Robert De Niro

TwitterFacebook

Jeff Sessions tenure as Donald Trump’s attorney general has come to an end, and the latest Saturday Night Live fittingly devoted its cold open to showing Kate McKinnon’s ever-creepy Sessions impression the door.

Alec Baldwin’s Trump is a no-show, but the sketch does welcome a line-up of Trump orbit impersonators: Aidy Bryant’s Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Beck Bennett’s Mike Pence, Alex Moffat and Mikey Day’s Eric and Donald Trump Jr. — the gang’s all here. We even get a special appearance from one Robert Mueller, played again by Robert De Niro (McKinnon has also taken on the Mueller part before). Read more…

Here’s the trailer for your new favorite summer comedy, ‘The Spy Who Dumped Me’

TwitterFacebook

What happens when you get dumped by a C.I.A. operative? All kinds of craziness, according to the trailer for Susanna Fogel’s The Spy Who Dumped Me, starring Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon. Kunis plays Morgan, who’s getting over her ex (Justin Theroux) when she finds out that he was mixed up with some bad people – and now they’re after her.

The trailer is full of amazing subversions of spy movie tropes; the high-speed car chase (maybe), a helicopter flight, a speeding train, a torture scene – and even swallowing some top-secret material to keep it safe. It also has some stuff about Minion sex, though, so this isn’t just any spy movie. Read more…

Kate McKinnon and Mila Kunis drool their way through a hilarious game of ‘Speak Out’

TwitterFacebook

Thank goodness for Kate McKinnon’s Aunt Camille.

That’s who introduced the Saturday Night Live star to “Speak Out” — that horribly unhygienic game that requires you to read phrases out loud while wearing a very awkward mouthpiece.

On a visit to The Ellen DeGeneres Show along with Mila Kunis, McKinnon requested that they play the game while on the couch. The results are a priceless few minutes of the two actresses hysterical and drooling, all while trying to get Ellen to say things like “I love bean bag popping” and “Patty poked that pig.”

If you don’t have four minutes to spare, at least skip to the face McKinnon makes at 3:47. It’s well worth the effort.  Read more…

Ruth Bader Ginsburg finally shares what she thinks of Kate McKinnon’s SNL impersonations

Ruth Bader Ginsburg isn’t one to ignore a good meme or joke, especially if it’s about her.

The Supreme Court justice revealed her thoughts about the “Notorious RGB” memes long ago. But now, while in conversation with NPR’s Nina Totenberg at Sundance Film Festival to promote her documentary RGB, Ginsburg shared a few thoughts on Kate McKinnon’s hilarious SNL impersonations and much more.

According to Variety, Ginsburg admitted to referencing McKinnon’s bits while at work. “I would like to say ‘Ginsburged’ sometimes to my colleagues,” she said, before offering praise to the SNL cast member. “I liked the actress who portrayed me.” Read more…

‘SNL’ takes Roy Moore to task with some Alabama sensibility, courtesy of Kate McKinnon

TwitterFacebook

Another week, another 34,989 sexual assault and harassment stories in the news (that’s an official number). On Saturday night, Saturday Night Live tackled the highly icky report that Alabama Republican senatorial candidate Roy Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a minor with the man whose seat he’s filling: Jeff Sessions.

This week’s cold open started with a sensible Vice President Mike Pence (Beck Bennett) counseling Judge Moore (Mikey Day) on the best course of action. His counsel: Stepping aside isn’t the worst thing in the world, if you look at it the right way.
