A brand new teaser for The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part dropped on Sunday, featuring the debut of a character based on Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Although the pioneering Supreme Court Justice didn’t voice the character, USA Today reports she agreed to the use of her likeness — she’ll even reportedly be released as an official Lego figurine for the film’s release.

“These movies are so full of surprises. And we were thinking, ‘Who’s the last person you would think to see in a Lego film as a minifig?’ Ruth Bader Ginsburg!” director Mike Mitchell told the publisher. “And we’re all huge fans. It made us laugh to think of having her enter this world.” Read more…

Ruth Bader Ginsburg fractures her ribs and Twitter quickly offers to donate their bones

For her safety and ours, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg should be wrapped in bubble wrap at all times.

The 85-year-old icon fell in her office on Wednesday night, fracturing three of her ribs. Ginsburg was admitted to the hospital for observation on Thursday morning. The injury prevented her from attending an investiture ceremony for newly appointed Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Twitter, meanwhile, isn’t doing so well. Fans of Notorious RBG, as she is sometimes known, immediately launched into grief — and action. Some even went so far as to offer to donate their ribs. Read more…

“We’re not asking you to change the country. That’s already happened without the court’s permission.”

If you enjoyed the RBG documentary, you’ll love this. A new trailer from Focus Features provides a first look at Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything) starring as Ruth Bader Ginsburg in On the Basis of Sex, a dramatization of Ginsburg’s fight against gender discrimination as a young attorney in the 1970s.

Armie Hammer (Call Me By Your Name) plays opposite Jones as the late Martin D. Ginsburg, a tax attorney and Ginsburg’s spouse. Kathy Bates and Sam Waterson are set to appear in supporting roles—and the Notorious RBG herself recently filmed a cameo appearance for the film. Read more…

RBG, Twitter is down on its knees, begging you to please stay

TwitterFacebook

Many of us started this week thinking it couldn’t get any worse.

Oh, how young we were then.

After a week of devastating decisions by the Supreme Court, including a decision in favor of Trump’s Muslim ban, Justice Anthony Kennedy announced he’d be retiring on Wednesday. This leaves room for Trump to appoint yet another justice — presumably one who is anti-choice and anti-LGBTQ rights.

On Twitter, liberals politely begged 85-year-old Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to do everything she could to hang on.

At the risk of making everyone more depressed, it’s important to note that RBG’s voting power will weaken, now that conservatives will enjoy a 6-3 majority with Trump’s new appointee. Prior, Kennedy served as a swing vote, and occasionally agreed with the court’s liberal minority. Read more…
