Jim Carrey tackles Jeff Sessions’ ‘zero tolerance’ immigration policy with a poignant illustration

TwitterFacebook

Jim Carrey often uses personal illustrations to chime in on Trump administration politics. On Thursday, the actor and comedian shared a new drawing, this time targeting the “zero tolerance” immigration policy touted by Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Carrey’s illustration shows Sessions dressed in red, white, and blue and standing before a fence while holding a blanket and baby bottle. Behind Sessions is a room full of children — a reference to immigrant children who’ve been held in facilities after crossing the United States border.

Nothing says cutting-edge digital badassery like a government cybersecurity task force, amirite?

On Tuesday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the creation of a new, special cybersecurity task force aimed at combatting global threats and protecting U.S. elections from foreign interference. The unit is being called the “Justice Department’s Cyber-Digital Task Force.”

A DOJ-appointee will lead the group, and work with members from law enforcement and other government agencies to “canvass the many ways that the Department is combatting the global cyber threat.” Canvass, eh?

Early Wednesday morning, President Trump tweeted something sensible, rational, and good for America. Jk.

Responding to recent developments in Robert Mueller’s investigation into the Trump campaign’s association with Russia, the president’s Twitter account has seemed more unhinged than usual. This morning he fired off a tweet asking why Obama and the Democrats weren’t also under investigation. Then he misspelled his attorney general’s name, saying, “Ask Jeff Session!”

‘SNL’ takes Roy Moore to task with some Alabama sensibility, courtesy of Kate McKinnon

Another week, another 34,989 sexual assault and harassment stories in the news (that’s an official number). On Saturday night, Saturday Night Live tackled the highly icky report that Alabama Republican senatorial candidate Roy Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a minor with the man whose seat he’s filling: Jeff Sessions.

This week’s cold open started with a sensible Vice President Mike Pence (Beck Bennett) counseling Judge Moore (Mikey Day) on the best course of action. His counsel: Stepping aside isn’t the worst thing in the world, if you look at it the right way.
