Becoming First Lady of the US means a lot of big life changes, but the one thing it apparently doesn’t put an end to are wonderfully awkward messages from your mom.

Nothing stops those. Not even becoming a best selling author, or a super popular surprise guest at the Grammys.

On Wednesday morning, Michelle Obama took to Instagram to share a truly A+ message exchange she’d had with her mom, after appearing at the Awards show on Sunday.

Make sure you swipe on the post below — the second page may be even better than the first…

This is One Good Thing, a weekly column where we tell you about one of the few nice things that happened this week

As a perfect person, it’s hard to imagine Michelle Obama having any doubts about herself. Hasn’t she always assumed that she was brilliant, graceful, and exceptionally good at gardening? Didn’t she always think that she would one day become one of the most powerful people in the world and achieve it by being … nice?

According to Obama’s new memoir, Becoming, she wasn’t always so confident.

Michelle Obama goes high, and apparently so do her book sales.

The former first lady’s personal memoir, Becoming, has sold more than two million copies since its release on Nov. 13, 2018, according to Penguin Random House. That means it’s currently the top selling book of the year.

On Friday, Penguin Random House shared a press release announcing the book had sold more than 2 million units “across all formats and editions in the U.S. and Canada” during its first 15 days, as reflected by NDP BookScan data.

If you keep up with Oprah’s Book Club — or at the very least, have been online recently — then you know Michelle Obama finally released her memoir, Becoming, on Nov. 13.

In it, the former first lady opens up in ways she never has before, revealing intimate details about marriage counseling, her miscarriage, and the reason why she’ll “never forgive” Donald Trump. Obama will undoubtedly continue these candid conversations in the coming weeks, as she travels across the country for her book tour

She’s not the only woman trailblazer to share her story. In 2018 alone, we’ve heard from the cofounder of Black Lives Matter, Patrisse Cullors; journalist Asha Bandele; Sarah McBride, the national press secretary for the Human Rights Campaign; and Ibtihaj Muhammad, the first U.S. Olympian to wear a hijab while competing. Michelle Obama may describe her new life as “boring”, but her interview with Jimmy Kimmel is anything but.

In the nine-minute clip above, the former First Lady talks about her new book Becoming, her life with Barack, and the celebrity she currently texts with the most (spoiler alert: it’s Oprah).

She also drop a few details about what life was like in the White House, including her dogs’ work schedules and — perhaps most surprisingly — the fact that they still had to pay for all the food they ordered in. Read more…

Ellen DeGeneres and former First Lady Michelle Obama, the BFFs who took CVS by storm, are back – this time at Costco.

Ahead of Obama’s Thursday appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, DeGeneres set up an impromptu book signing for the first lady’s new memoir, Becoming, at the big-box store to get everyone hyped.

In a sneak peak shared on Instagram, DeGeneres plays the keyboard to distract Obama from her signing duties, and she brings up the elephant in the room: Why Oprah was mentioned in the book more times than the comedian and talk show host was.
