Trump Twitter notifications have completely ruined my year
On Nov. 8, 2016, Donald Trump was elected president of the United States and I made the horrible mistake of turning on mobile notifications for his Twitter account.
It seemed like a logical decision for any human that works in media, or simply …
LGBTQ election victories finally give progressives something to celebrate
A glimmer of progressive hope has risen out of the Trump-inspired darkness. In Tuesday’s off-year elections, LGBTQ candidates — particularly transgender candidates — received historic victories across the country.
“The biggest story out last night is that 2017 is the year of the transgender candidate,” said Elliot Imse, director of communications for the Victory Fund and Victory Institute, an organization promoting LGBTQ representation in government.
LGBTQ candidates were part of a larger trend of Democratic wins across the country. Democratic governors were elected in New Jersey and Virginia, and democrats made significant gains in the Virginia House of Delegates. Read more…

Turns out Barack Obama can make even jury duty look fun
Barack Obama has done the unthinkable: given millions of people FOMO over not serving jury duty.
Former President Barack Obama was at Chicago’s Richard J. Daley Center on Wednesday to perform his civic responsibility and show up for jury duty. And even though everything about jury duty — from the boring AF intro video to the hours of waiting in uncomfortable folding chairs surrounded by strangers — is often dreaded, TBH, jury duty looked totally lit with Obama there.
Obama was reportedly called to serve in late October at Cook County, where he’s registered to vote. It’s impeccable timing considering he and Michelle recently hosted The Obama Foundation Summit in the good old windy city. Read more…

Welp, Trump has embraced Twitter’s new 280-character limit
President Donald Trump took advantage of Twitter’s expanded character count on Tuesday — but the excess words didn’t really add much.
He used 216 characters to let everyone know he was about to make a speech in South Korea and then travel to China. Riveting stuff.
Getting ready to make a major speech to the National Assembly here in South Korea, then will be headed to China where I very much look forward to meeting with President Xi who is just off his great political victory.
