LGBTQ election victories finally give progressives something to celebrate

TwitterFacebook

A glimmer of progressive hope has risen out of the Trump-inspired darkness. In Tuesday’s off-year elections, LGBTQ candidates — particularly transgender candidates — received historic victories across the country.

“The biggest story out last night is that 2017 is the year of the transgender candidate,” said Elliot Imse, director of communications for the Victory Fund and Victory Institute, an organization promoting LGBTQ representation in government.

LGBTQ candidates were part of a larger trend of Democratic wins across the country. Democratic governors were elected in New Jersey and Virginia, and democrats made significant gains in the Virginia House of Delegates.  Read more…

TwitterFacebook

TwitterFacebook

President Donald Trump took advantage of Twitter’s expanded character count on Tuesday — but the excess words didn’t really add much.

He used 216 characters to let everyone know he was about to make a speech in South Korea and then travel to China. Riveting stuff.

Getting ready to make a major speech to the National Assembly here in South Korea, then will be headed to China where I very much look forward to meeting with President Xi who is just off his great political victory.
