This person’s 45-tweet rant about the imperial system is hilariously relatable

TwitterFacebook

If you’ve ever found yourself somewhat confused by the logic of the imperial system — you know, pounds, ounces, all that good stuff — you’re not alone.

Because unlike the more modern metric system, which is fairly logical when it comes to the way different measures and weights are broken down, the imperial system just seems a bit… messier.

Anyone who’s ever found themselves struggling to follow a recipe that contains the phrase “cup”, will understand.

Anyway, here to perfectly encapsulate your confusion is this Scottish video games programmer, who on Monday evening went on an epic 45-tweet rant about the issue. Read more…

Someone ordered a massive box of fried food and the internet had a lot to say about it

TwitterFacebook

What will £10 ($12.84) get you in this day and age?

If you live in Scotland and have a rather large appetite, it could get you this staggering amount of fried food plus a large bottle of Scottish soda Irn-Bru.

Known as a “crunch box” this dish features various fried food items resting on a bed of chips.

Twitter user @RossMcCaff posted an image of this incredible fried food bargain and people had a lot of questions about it.

A chippy in my hometown is selling this ‘crunch box’ for a TENNER and if you don’t think it looks like the most appetizing thing ever then there’s no hope for youpic.twitter.com/BzKhYbEFWF

Chris Pine and his beard seek bloody revenge in ‘The Outlaw King’ trailer

TwitterFacebook

In all the fuss over Avengers: Infinity War, you may have wondered: How is Chris Pine doing? While the other Hollywood Chrises failed to beat Thanos, Pine was dusting off his chain mail to play Robert the Bruce, an exiled Scottish king seeking to reclaim his throne.

In the trailer for The Outlaw King – directed by David Mackenzie, who worked with Pine on Hell or High Water – Pine does his best Scottish accent and recruits allies (including Aaron Taylor-Johnson) in Robert’s quest for revenge.  Read more…

Not just another decentralized web whitepaper?

Given all the hype and noise swirling around crypto and decentralized network projects, which runs the full gamut from scams and stupidity, to very clever and inspired ideas, the release of yet another whitepaper does not immediately set off an attention klaxon. But this whitepaper — which details a new protocol for achieving consensus within a […]

Mark Zuckerberg’s boring hearing would’ve been better in a Scottish accent

TwitterFacebook

Sure, you might’ve been a little underwhelmed by the Mark Zuckerberg hearing.

The dry answers and hours of inane questioning were a little too much for us, but you know how it could have been vastly improved? A Glaswegian accent.

Here’s what Glasgow Zuck would sound like, courtesy of Scottish comedian Janey Godley. Yer maw would love it.

A grown man face-planting onto a snowy trampoline in slow mo is what true joy looks like

TwitterFacebook

When you wake up to find a few fresh inches of snow carpeting your back garden, there are a few clear rules that must be followed.

Don’t drive unless you absolutely have to. Don’t eat the yellow stuff. And if you have a trampoline, absolutely DO make sure that you dive headfirst into that snowy goodness ASAP.

On Thursday morning, this was the sight that greeted Paddy from Scotland, in his back garden.

Bus narrowly dodges car on snowy road in nerve-shredding dashcam footage

TwitterFacebook

If ever you need a reason not drive in snowy conditions unless it’s absolutely necessary, just remind yourself of the clip above.

Titled “Stay in people Red snow alert!!” and presumably filmed in Scotland (where the Met Office recently issued a Red warning, which means the risk to life is “likely”), the video shows dashcam footage of a bus swerving to avoid a car on a snow-covered road.

Props to the bus driver — he handles the whole incident like an absolute pro.

Meanwhile, the reaction of the guy in the car that’s filming pretty much says it all. Read more…

This video of random Scottish people crowdsurfing in the road is simply glorious

TwitterFacebook

If you want to experience something close to the feeling of flying but are either a) scared of heights or b) don’t have the money for a parachute/hang glider/airplane ticket/jetpack, your best bet is probably crowdsurfing.

The best part is you don’t even need to go to a festival.

On Saturday, this clip of people crowdsurfing in the middle of a road in Edinburgh, Scotland, went viral on Twitter:

They actually put cones and barriers behind them to block the road. Good prep lads

Scottish police called out to deal with tiger on the loose, get big surprise

TwitterFacebook

A tiger loose in Scotland? It can’t be…

Actually that statement is one hundred percent correct. Police in Aberdeenshire received a call from a concerned citizen on Saturday who believed he had spotted a tiger loitering near his farm.

As it turns out the big cat in question was not an actual tiger, but a large stuffed toy.

The North East Police Division published a statement about the incident on their Facebook page.

It’s good to know the police are prepared in case a real tiger ever does go on the lam.
