Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron’s ‘Long Shot’ is a well-intentioned misfire

TwitterFacebook

Stranger things have happened than a schlubby Brooklyn writer hooking up with a glamorous secretary of state. What pushes Long Shot from unexpected to downright unbelievable, however, is the context in which this coupling takes place.

The film, directed by Jonathan Levine and written by Liz Hannah and Dan Sterling, seems determined to comment on our current political climate — yet the world it creates feels so far removed from our own, it may as well exist in an alternate dimension.

At least its stars are lovable in any universe. Seth Rogen plays Fred Flarsky, who is most economically described as a Seth Rogen type: shaggy, sweet, and Too Much in a way that comes all the way back around to endearing. Read more…

Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron couple up in trailer for ‘Long Shot’

TwitterFacebook

“It’s Pretty Woman, but she’s Richard Gere and you’re Julia Roberts.”

Valentine’s Day may have come and gone, but the rom-com is alive and well. Its next stars? Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen in Long Shot, a Cinderella story following the blossoming romance between U.S. Secretary of State turned presidential candidate Charlotte Field (Theron) and political reporter Fred Flarsky (Rogen).

Coming from the creators of the hilarious Neighbors franchise, this trailer seems a bit all over the place. But with Theron and Rogen at the helm, supported by the talents of O’Shea Jackson Jr., June Diane Raphael, Bob Odenkirk, and more, we’re waiting to pass judgment. Read more…

Even Macaulay Culkin didn’t know the gangster movie in ‘Home Alone’ is fake

TwitterFacebook

It’s the end of the year, but it isn’t too late to learn something new before 2019!

Seth Rogen — and a number of Twitter users — didn’t know that the old movie Kevin McCallister watches in Home Alone isn’t a real movie. In a tweet, Rogen said he believed Angels With Filthy Souls was an actual movie his “entire childhood.”

And Macaulay Culkin, who plays Kevin in the film, did too!

Me too! https://t.co/Y24cIHLNlM

— Macaulay Culkin (@IncredibleCulk) December 26, 2018

In fact, the movie-within-a-movie is a parody of old gangster films like the 1938 film Angels With Dirty Faces. The fake film is the source of one of the most iconic holiday phrases in pop culture: “Keep the change, ya filthy animal.”  Read more…

Seth Rogen just shared a little known ‘Duck Hunt’ secret and it’s blowing people’s minds

TwitterFacebook

In the heyday of the 1984 video game Duck Hunt, there was no social media, no internet, and no easy way of informing the general public of video game tricks.

But now, we have Twitter. And Seth Rogen just shared a major Duck Hunt revelation after having kept it to himself for 25 years.

Apparently, you could use the second player controller on Nintendo to control the duck.

Hot tip that’s 25 years late but I didn’t have Twitter back then: in Duck Hunt on Nintendo, the second player controller controlled the duck.

Seth Rogen is officially the new voice of Vancouver transit

TwitterFacebook

Seth Rogen is now the official voice of Vancouver’s TransLink’s buses and SkyTrains, because why not?

The Vancouver native offered to voice announcements for the city’s transportation system after TransLink cut ties with Morgan Freeman — who was originally slated to do the announcements — after he was accused of sexually inappropriate behavior in May.

Freeman’s spot was initially a promotion collaboration with Visa, however, the Vancouver Sun notes that Rogen offered to do the announcements for free.

“Mr. Rogen offered to work with TransLink free of charge and we accepted his offer in the pursuit of providing a better customer experience and to share pride in the region,” said TransLink spokesman Steve Vanagas. Read more…

TwitterFacebook

Seth Rogen is sick and tired of how Twitter has been dealing with the racists and white supremacists who plague the platform.

The actor called out Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey on Tuesday in a public tweet.

I’ve been DMing with @jack about his bizarre need to verify white supremacists on his platform for the last 8 months or so, and after all the exchanges, I’ve reached a conclusion: the dude simply does not seem to give a fuck.

— Seth Rogen (@Sethrogen) July 3, 2018

Rogen says he’s been privately messaging Jack via Twitter for months, trying to figure out what the company has in mind when it verifies white supremacists on its platform. Read more…

TwitterFacebook

Seth Rogen stopped by The Late Show on Friday to chat about work, Canada’s marijuana legalization, and the time he shut down Paul Ryan‘s selfie request in front of his own kids.

The actor told Stephen Colbert that earlier this month he shared an incredibly awkward moment with the Speaker of the House at Mitt Romney’s annual political summit in Park City, Utah.

Ryan and his sons, all fans of Rogen, approached him at the event to ask for a selfie but Rogen wasn’t having it.

“My whole body puckered, as it were. I tensed up. And I didn’t know what to do!” Rogen explained. After Ryan shook the actor’s hand and requested a picture, Rogen said, “No way, man!” before proceeding absolutely drag Ryan in front of his kids. Read more…

Seth Rogen’s mom tweets awkward yoga experience, gets response from Seth Rogen

TwitterFacebook

Seth Rogen’s mom Sandy is well worth a follow on Twitter.

She’s previously trolled her son for not returning her phone calls and made him cringe with her awkward sex-related tweets — and now she’s at it again.

On Tuesday, Sandy tweeted this:

In yoga when you can see the very private parts of the woman in front of you through her pants , should you tell her?
Maybe the person behind me can see the outline of my private parts. Dilemma.

— Sandy Rogen (@RogenSandy) May 7, 2018

The tweet quickly had people talking.

IMO better than being able to see the private parts of the man in front of you at yoga.
