Hilarious parody shows how SpongeBob got dissed at the Super Bowl halftime show

Well the Super Bowl halftime show certainly….happened.
Spongebob fans everywhere, who were hoping for a ‘Sweet Victory’ tribute to honor the show’s late creator Stephen Hillenburg, were less than thrilled at what we ended up getting. This…

Here’s the Super Bowl halftime show if Maroon 5 had actually played the ‘SpongeBob’ song

TwitterFacebook

Maroon 5 and the NFL made a grievous mistake (one of many!) when they failed to include “Sweet Victory” in the Super Bowl halftime show.

Fortunately, disappointed SpongeBob fans can soothe their devastation with an approximation of what could’ve been. On Monday, Yeek Studios uploaded a re-dub of the very boring Maroon 5 halftime performance. Instead of “Moves Like Jagger” or “Big Tattoo That Says California” or whatever Maroon 5 songs are, the band simply plays “Sweet Victory” instead.

It is much better — even though, sadly, Adam Levine is still shirtless. Read more…

SpongeBob fans are not happy with that goober of a Super Bowl tribute

TwitterFacebook

The rumored halftime tribute to SpongeBob SquarePants actually happened, but now some people are disappointed by how it turned out.

Maroon 5’s painful Super Bowl halftime show performance was mercifully interrupted by Squidward, who conducted a marching band of Bikini Bottom residents. As the band built up into a crescendo, Travis Scott inexplicably flew into the stadium via meteorite.

Yeah, it makes absolutely no sense.

Maroon 5 and Travis Scott really went and did a tribute to SpongeBob during their Super Bowl LII performance.

It’s the crossover you never knew you wanted.

SpongeBob SquarePants fans launched a Change.org petition in November 2018 after the death of Stephen Hillenburg, who created the beloved series, calling for artists to perform “Sweet Victory” in his honor. The song is from a 2001 episode where the sea creatures performed at the “Bubble Bowl,” and the petition got more than 1.2 million signatures.  Read more…

The Rock and ‘SpongeBob’ just had a glorious Twitter exchange

TwitterFacebook

It’s always nice to see our favourite celebrities getting on well on Twitter — especially when they’re people you wouldn’t necessarily expect to be friends.

Enter Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and SpongeBob Squarepants, unlikely social media pals and (hopefully) future buddy comedy stars.

It started on Friday, when the official SpongeBob Twitter account tagged The Rock in the following tweet.

Hey @TheRock, what inspired your nickname…Patrick Star’s home? Either way, we love it! #SaySomethingNiceDay pic.twitter.com/PLL5VzfWGc

Debate rages about whether Spongebob is a sea sponge or a dish sponge

TwitterFacebook

He may live in a pineapple under the sea, but just what exactly is Spongebob Squarepants?

Writer and comedian Celeste Yim started a thread on Twitter about the precise nature of Spongebob Squarepants. Specifically, is he a sea sponge or a dish sponge?

I have only just discovered that Spongebob is a sea sponge? I thought he was maybe a regular sponge with an eclectic lifestyle, like a white man living in Southeast Asia ✌️

There are many different kinds of sea sponge, check out this massive barrel sea sponge, for example.  Read more…
