After internet outrage, New Yorker disinvites Steve Bannon from festival

When The New Yorker announced that Steve Bannon — the man who mainstreamed white nationalism as a former Donald Trump adviser — would headline its New Yorker Festival, the internet responded with a collective, “Are you kidding me?“

Then, celebrities slated to appear at the event started pulling out on Twitter.

Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough hate-flirting and talking over their guests on “Morning Joe” was a welcome way to return from Saturday Night Live’s holiday hiatus, especially with a big reveal under the Steve Bannon Grim Reaper cloak.

Mika (Kate McKinnon) and Joe (Alex Moffat) made everyone as uncomfortable as ever with their wholly inappropriate double entendre and tone-deaf interview an with African-American studies expert (Chris Redd) who couldn’t get a word in edgewise.

But the real fire and fury, so to speak, came with SNL alum Fred Armisen’s surprise appearance as author Michael Wolff, whose explosive tell-all book Fire and Fury has had Washington tongues waggling over salacious – and possibly erroneous – details about the Trump White House. Read more…

Sirius XM faces boycott from celebrities over Steve Bannon’s return

Steve Bannon might be looking forward to his return to radio, but celebrities like Seth Rogen, John Leguizamo and Melissa Etheridge are promising a boycott.

According to CNN, the former chief strategist for President Donald Trump has rejoined the Sirius XM radio team as a host on the Breitbart News Daily show on conservative station Patriot — and folks are fuming.

Announced last Tuesday, the executive chairman of alt-right website Breitbart News Network has returned to Sirius XM as a regular host along with editor-in-chief Alex Marlow. Bannon has previously hosted the Breitbart News Daily show which premiered in late 2015, and he covered the 2016 GOP nomination. Read more…
